About Knievel, the sports shows covering his disastrous jumps and crashes would show in super slow motion his landings where the bike would explode under him and his body would tumble like a rag doll.

The viewer would wonder if that instant is where he broke his back, leg or arm, or got the concussion. The announcers relished reporting how many bones he broke on that landing.

Maybe America’s first violence porn for all of us to savor.

Still makes me shudder all these centuries later.

I love motorcycles because, besides the need for speed, I grew up riding in the woods with my dad and cherish those memories. After a brief hiatus, my need to scratch the adrenaline itch finally pushed me into motocross (in my 30s) and I was addicted. Too many ambulance rides pushed me off the MX track and ultimately on to the street. My Multistrada feels like a big dirt bike so I was comfortable on it right way and love chasing the tight stuff (I would love triple digits too but it seems like that could be expensive on the street). My son has recently gotten into dirt bikes so now I'm back in the woods hoping he will appreciate the times hanging with the old man as much as I did (but hopefully the doesn't end up broken like I am).

I was riding bicycles before 1st grade, had to walk it across the street and use the drainage ditch wall to get on it.

By 4th, 5th 6th grade, it was my transportation, growing up in the outskirts of San Antone we had lots of woods to ride in. It was then I learned to slide my bicycle in the dirt.

By 7th and 8th grade, I learned how to ride dirt bikes and being able to slide it under power was an awesome thing to me......that was the original love for motorcycles...sliding

After that....way after that, my first street bike was when I was 20, then starting developing a love for speed, then more speed, then more speed....well, you get the idea.

Thanks for asking Beans
