Washington Insurance

I finally got my motorcycle to my place in Olalla. I called AAA to update my insurance and found out that my coverage is double what I was paying in CA.

What companies are you guys using?

I have a 2016 ZX636r that is paid for. AAA was the cheapest sport bike coverage in CA, because they went by the CC of the engine.

I got quoted for $1400 a year. I was paying $800 a year for full coverage in Corona, CA. If I did liability only it would be around $700.

I had planned on running insurance for 6 months out of the year, but apparently that is a no no to have gaps in coverage.

Let me know what you guys think.

I am also wondering if I should track the ninja and then get another DR650 for cruising around on. Is the insurance a lot cheaper for dualsports here? It was almost nothing when I had one, because I could check the box that it was predominantly used in the dirt.

I use Progressive and it is very affordable. Insurance is much less expensive on dual sports compared to a 2 year old supersport.

Agreed, but it also depends on the type of bike you are riding and if you ride for 6, 9 or 12 months a year.

I have full coverage and uninsured motorists on a ZX14, KLR, C14 and Z900RS along with a 323GTX that is suspense at the moment. I pay 150 a month.

Go with the firm that you have other vehicle insurance with.
I have SF for all my insurance, so my (good) experience is with them.

I currently use Dairyland. Have had Progressive, Geico, and others. For me it seems to vary widely by bike and company.

Shop around a bit, compare bids and play hardball. If you can bundle, (car, home, boat, bike, etc) you'll do better.

Geico here.

Progressive was INSANE for my wife's 2007 Honda Odyssey and my 2008 R1200 GSA. Only have one at-fault accident on my driving record (rubbed my previous car against a car when I tried to go around in stop/go traffic... luckily, it was a brand new Porsche fml).

Progressive wanted more than $200 a month combined. Just absurd.

Paying $115/mo for both with Geico.

When I got rid of a bunch of bikes and only was insuring one, Progressive raised the rate multiple times higher than what I was paying with with multiple bikes. Now with Geico liability only, under $100 a year.

Effing insurance industry. I'm tired of them and their dry anal rape tactics.

My liability only with Progressive is less than $100 per year, but when I add under-insured motorist it almost doubles to $174 per year. I hate paying so much for the other guy's insurance.
