The bill that would enable the first-step towards lane splitting is officially dead. The Chairwoman of the House Transportation Comittee, Judy Clibborn, refused to bring a hearing forward for SB5623 this morning. Please call her at (360) 786-7926 and voice how disappointed you are with her refusing to bring forward a bill passed by the Senate, and ignoring a recommendation from her own party member and bill writer, Senator Tim Sheldon. |

Feel free to vote out any Senators who don't support lane splitting, while you're at it.

So frustrating that this keeps getting shot down, definitely sucks being in the minority as motorcycle riders vs the general driving public when it comes to this issue. Well, at least I recently found out that the bicycle lane along 2nd Ave in downtown Seattle can drastically reduce the cross-town commute during rush hour, at least the government can be happy that there was no lane splitting involved.

I think I might write her some hate mail, and I don't even live in Washington. She needs to be out of a job after the next election.

She'll never see it. Her staff knows how to use the delete button long before it'd get to her eyeballs. And if by some bizarre luck she did read it, she'd just dig in her heels against you. |

She has Facebook page. Her aids cannot delete messages as fast as we can post them. Come elections, I'll remember. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Repre...17?pnref=story (don't do it now so she won't ban us before the campaign). |

Normally I don't pay that much attention to names on election day, but her name will be hard to forget. I'll definitely be putting her name out there to family, friends and who ever else I can talk to, to keep a vote from her. One name I will give lot's of kudos for a vote will be for Tim Sheldon. Maybe he would be interested in the Chair of the House Transportation Comittee?

When I eventually move back to Washington I do hope lane filtering will be legal. Up till 2 years ago I've never lived anywhere where it was legal. Now, living in the U.K. where it is, along with every other countries in Europe I don't want to live anyplace where it's illegal. The first time filtering for me was probably the best experience(tied for first track day) I've had on a bike. It wasn't just because I could do it legally, it was just an amazing eye opening experience to see first hand how it really does work when done safely and correctly.

Does Judy Clibborn issue a statement or something on why she does not bring it for hearing? Or it just dies with no explanation?

Bludgeoning, spamming, Facebook bombing, and other such bad behavior will only be counter productive. Believe me, after being in the game for two decades, the high road is always better in the long run. After all, it is not only her that will see the bad behavior, but also many of our supporters. I don't want to see the motorcycling community paint itself into a corner and become marginalized as yet another bunch of ham handed abusive nut jobs. Quote:
![]() That's just the way things work. If a committee chair issued a statement on every bill that came to their committee and died they would have to double their staff. |
