Tires: Avon Trailrider

Perusing advrider.com and I found some high praise for the Alta Trailriders.

Was hoping someone here might have some specific experience with them in the PNW.

Would go on a 1200 GSA. It’s my commuter bike and I ride all year, rain or shine.

Really? No one?

Maybe not a good choice, then.

No experience with them, I run the Heidenau K60's on a KLR last 2 sets.

I really like this tire. Friend with a Husky 701 says the same.

Advrider forum is the best out there as you know.

Maybe because you really mean Avon Trailriders? Never tried them myself, but maybe someone else has.

If ya want I’ll review them on my return. Just fitted a set in anticipation of about 2000-3000 miles down to L.A. via Highway 1 and out to Twentynine palms to see a friend.

Given I’m boogieing the night of the 7th, I should get a good mix of weather for the Nor Cal stretch although my impressions so far have been favorable. I knew as soon as I fitted them it would rain so it obligingly did for my test runs down to Hebo and I can say they hold the uneven gravel about as well as the Tractionators or Scouts I have had fitted previously and didn’t scare me on Wilson River Highway returning.

Obviously being more street oriented they are a good deal quieter, but my main concern will be wet traction with mileage right behind it. If I can get 3000+ miles with the bike kitted out with panniers, tank bag, rotopaxii and other such touring goodies I’ll be thrilled!

BTW, bike is a Tiger 800 with full aluminum panniers from Happy Trails and two 2 gallon ‘pax on a tail mount for an observed combined weight of just under 900 pounds when my fat self is upon it.

Yeah. Please.

And yes; I did mean AVON Trailriders. Not sure where I got Alta.
