If you ever looking for an attorney in skagit or Whatcom county I recommend lustick kaimin and madrone DUI, Criminal Defense, Appeals, Military & Aviation Law Attorneys
The cop said he had me on radar doing 79 in a 50. Cough cough bullshit cough
Anyways. I got my dismissal letter today. $225 bucks. Was worth it to me.

Glad to hear it. Lawyers do seem to know their way around the courthouse.

Got a ticket while passing. Found a lawyer and it got dismissed. That is a good feeling! Never had to go to court, lawyer handled it all. Cost me $300, but well worth it in the long run.

Yup. This was my first time fighting a ticket. But I know I wasn't going as fast as he said. Plus my record is clean right now.
It was so foggy visibility was maybe 50 yards. It had just stopped raining and I had just come out of a pretty sharp corner. There no way I was going that fast in those conditions.
Maybe the cop didn't want to perjur I'm self any further.

Yup, thats the scam..

You can pay the $100 fine, or pay a lawyer $300 to get it dismaissed.

The bar association considers that a win because it's more money into the system, (and lawyers pockets.)
That is how it works..

Eh, fines and court costs aside. Due to the potential insurance costs, and implications on commercial drivers license, etc. I'll always lawyer up.
Learned the hard way years ago. Been spanked by the justice system even though I felt I wasn't wrong.
Lawyered up and always got off, even when I knew I was likely misbehaving and probably deserved a citation.
That said, I highly recommend Attila Denes for King and Snohomish County.

Its not just the money tho.
I knew I wasn't speeding when he saw me.
I have to keep a clean driving record for my work.
And I knew I wasn't speeding when that bung hole said I was speeding.
And insurance costs.
And the principle of knowing I wasn't speeding.
He profiled the shit out of me. But that's a small city backroad cop for ya.

The courts don't care if you are guilty or not, just as long as they make money.

Anything that is a "cash cow" leads to cops violating the rights of citizens.

In your case it was a speeding ticket, you're lucky it wasn't DUI, or civil forfeiture (where police steal your money, even when you haven't broken the law).

A routine question asked by cops in some states is "How much money are you carrying?". So they can take it.

I find them ridiculous, like much of the free speech in our society. Despite that, I'm still proud to defend your right to post ridiculous opinions.

So, Scribbles hates "the system" and... that's okay, I guess. This thread got a bit awkwardly confrontational and weird.

I'll just add that, though our "system" isn't perfect, we could easily do a lot worse.
