They're baaack...

Same folks that revived Gas Gas have brought Skully back from the grave.

I'm still waiting to see an Iron Man style HUD... simplified of course. It would be cool to see engine temp and tire temp / pressure in a sidebar, with speed and RPM on the other side and navigation directions / mini-map up top. Warnings about a car coming up behind or possibly blowing a red light would be useful, as would speed trap warnings and a real voice interface. Bank Attitude Indicator and HSI are optional

Hopefully they don't have the same tendencies towards strippers and sports cars on the company dime as the previous management

I almost got sucked in with the last offering, but thankfully my huge noggin saved me from losing $1500 (I'm between a 2xl and 3xl, so I had to try one on first). I would definitely give one a try once I can put it on at a store or if a retailer like Revzilla is re-selling them. Until then, it's just vaporware to me.

They've got plenty of competition in the vaporware market.

With flexible and transparent screens available, it should be a no-brainer to ditch the projectors and prisms and crap and just go straight to a display built into the shield. All the actual brainpower would be in your phone, so the helmet would only need a battery and a minimal image processing / bluetooth card. It could be as simple an install as a Sena 10u and a new shield. That approach lets them skip the whole new helmet hassle and just focus on one thing. Scope creep as much as bad money management kills this kind of project.

I agree completely when it comes to the display, but I think I was in the minority that wanted it merely for the rear view camera (I'm sick of looking at my elbows and us ogres have to look farther down to see things which takes extra milliseconds in stupid Seattle traffic). Now, that could be something that could also be solved with a Sena style solution, but I'd want to see it in a smaller form factor than something like NUVIZ. I'm sure if we give it a couple years Sena (or their competitors) will come up with something, if there is enough market demand. If anything, GAS GAS dipping their toes in this tech pond will help determine that for the larger companies that have enough sense to wait until the start-up dust settles.

Now, hopefully it'd be waterproof, unlike the 20s. I'm still a bit miffed at them that they'd release a helmet communication accessory that they recommend that you don't use in any kind of rain shower. Thankfully, only the occasional rain storm sends my 20s into fits, requiring a couple days to dry out, and that it still work once bone dry. The sucker in me would still buy from them again if they sold a SKULLY type solution though (since my SMH10 was bulletproof).

Oh wow... that rear camera image would kill me. I didn't notice it at first because I was looking for more info to be displayed. It's actually the reverse of what it should be.

On a side note, I read an article about another spacey "modern" idea this morning. Cycle World did a long distance trip on the Spyder touring model. Now I'm day-dreaming about an actual sporty Spyder. One with rearsets and clip-ons to put the rider over the engine, and stripped of that goofy fairing. Dump the trunk and you can make the front wheel track at least a foot narrower, which would help keep it out of ruts and potholes. Make it a Blackbird instead of a Goldwing.

Hahaha I saw that too. Just like the old soda bottle rockets when I was a kid... except a thousand times higher pressure. Looks like something from the old Junkyard Wars shows... go-kart wheels, motorcycle front end, pressure tank from a hot water heater, and somebody's cell phone gps for the speed.

Kinda cool, but I doubt they would let you race at most drag strips? It would negatively affect the traction of any wheel driven vehicles running after!

It's all about scheduling. Just run the jet cars right after him.
