Should I contest a no passing zone ticket?

This is a little offtopic because I was in a car not a bike when I got a ticket today for passing in a no passing zone. It was on highbridge and I happened to have two police cars directly behind me at the time lol lucky me. Nice officer by the way.

Anyways, Iíve always thought its best to contest every ticket but it seems like this would be difficult to argue against. Should I contest it anyways?

If its your first ticket in years, it wont effect your ins so I'd just pay it.

If you have several tickets already, paying a lawyer could actually save you money when you figure in ins premiums.

A third option is to go to the prosecutor and see if you can cut a deal where you pay the fine, but without a moving violation being put on your record. ( I know people who have got this, but I have no idea how common it is.)

No tickets on my record but Im not so sure I’ll never get another haha. Previously I had a huge ticket reduced to expired tabs and a halved fine thanks to a lawyer, and I had another dropped completely with a lawyer. Im thinking I’ll contest it just to see if I can keep it off my record.

Defer it. Don't get another violation for a year. Take responsibility for doing dumb shit this time with a little pinch in the wallet. Stop getting caught doing dumb shit.

Up side: It goes away, found not committed after 12 months without a new violation. It doesn't get reported to insurance co. You don't pay lawyer fees.

Down side: Costs some up front for "court fees", maybe as much as a lawyer, maybe not. It varies on court jurisdiction. Get another violation within 12 months and you pay the fine, goes on your record. You can't defer another violation of the same type for 7 years.

You have the deck stacked against you with having 2 cops behind you. Did one have a dash cam? Will they both give the same account in court? You can pay a lawyer but it seems that you may waste the money and have it found committed anyway.

yes contest it...no one should be telling someone else when and where they can pass and infringe upon their freedom like that...pass whenever wherever you like..ride wherever you like..heck down the wrong side of the road if it hits your fancy..it might not work out well but hell man FREEDOM...if you don't hit someone else where's the problem? wait..this isn't about helmet laws..oops...

Always fight every ticket. Most of the traffic infractions they issue are tantamount to state endorsed road piracy. These same men (and women) do "illegal" things all the time while driving, they could just sit and reflect and ticket themselves every month to hit their quota. (Fast forward to a courtroom, "Are you lying now, or were you lying when you said you were speeding...")

Did the driver wave you by?
Could the officers have seen the driver wave you by?
Could you live with a little perjury if it saved you some money?
Has anybody ever been charged with perjury as a result of testifying on their own behalf in a court of limited jurisdiction?

Also post the RCW, I haven't fought this particular ticket (yet), but it would be interesting to read the actual statute and see if there aren't some listed exceptions in the law.

Costs money up front but always get a lawyer for every ticket. You won't save money up front, you'll pay court fees, but you will save on potential insurance hike. You can defer it but then what, don't speed or break a single traffic law for a full year. Can you do that?

Lawyers can walk up to the prosecutor and ask em to drop it or barter down for a non moving violation in which case it doesn't affect insurance. The prosecutors work with attorneys and are used to it, they usually won't do the same if you walk up and try the same yourself.

Side note, I'd recommend you call Attila Denes (425)374-1537 in Snohomish, he is also a rider and handles a lot of moto tickets.

Btw not sure if you remember me but you gave me a pair of supermoto takeoffs a few years ago and I got to drag elbow with them! Good times.
