Folks, we are getting close to the finish line on the angled parking bill (SB 6565). It is scheduled to be reported out of committee on Monday. It will still need to be pulled to the floor of the House and voted out by 17:00 on Friday, and the earlier the better, because the closer things get to statutory cutoff the harder it is to move the small stuff. For the TLDR crowd: The bill exempts motorcycles from the arcane requirement in the RCW that calls for all vehicles to park parallel to the curb where parallel parking is delineated. Now is the time for everyone to contact their state representatives, both by phone and by E-mail, and ask that they support moving SB 6565 to the floor as soon as possible and vote in favor of the measure. As them to support it in caucus and with leadership. If you don't know who your reps are (a pox upon you) poke this link. Get busy and make this happen. |

It might not hurt ask them to pass it without amendments. If amended by the House it will have to go back to the Senate for concurrence and time is running out. |

Not really a problem, as the Senate is not irritated with the prime sponsor and Senator Randall already has the word that the proposed amendment is palatable.

SB 6565 passed the House last night on a 97-0-1 (one excused) vote with the proposed amendment. Now all we need is a concurrence vote in the Senate, so it's time to let your senators know that riders support the amended bill. For the TLDR crowd, what the amendment does is clarify that if the space is metered by the vehicle then every bike needs to pay but if the space is metered by the space only one bike needs to pay up. It's mostly a Planet Seattle hang up. |
