Peninsula route

Decided to play hookie tomorrow and do a full day ride with the wife. Does anyone have input as to whether clockwise or counter-clockwise is preferred for the peninsula? I suppose traffic might play into it, being a Friday. Recommended stopping points?

If passing lake Crescent:

1) Stop at the turn-out
2) Take off your boots and/or gear (optional)
3) Wade in the water to cool off.
(On a really hot day, a good dunk in your gear will last for quite a while!
Just take the ol' boots off, first.)

You're welcome.

Oh, and most of the beaches on the coast are epic, as you would expect. Short hikes, badass views. Ruby Beach comes to mind...
