I also live across the street from a high school in the Socialist Republic of Seattle. However the only thing I have had stolen as of yet was my old Subaru.

too true...might as well have posted "I leave hard cash and gold lying around when I'm not home"...the motorcycles will make for good getaway vehicles...but I heard nobody steals anything in the Socialist Republic of Seattle (a joke soo good it's worth telling twice)...

Best anti-theft method is to ride the bike. Glorious weather (albeit a bit chilly) today. Keep your bike safe - go ride!

You're not paranoid if they are really out to get you.

Just try not to think about the thieves that troll social media looking for those high end bikes to steal.

I acknowledge a little paranoia, but fortunately I have a garage. The next town over is a college town and every spring/summer there's a wave of bike thefts as the students with nice bikes park them outside (since practically no rentals have garages).

It made me blow a head gasket.

Oh and the car, did too.

I went out for a ride on my sliver SV650 today. Stopped by a supermarket to get a few things. Some green eyed monster from the sewer stole my battery of all things. They cut both battery cables to get it out. Of course nothing gets stolen at Metropolitan Market in the glorious Socialist Republic of Seattle.

Oh well, I got the SV650 back to it's safe space thanks to a small U-Haul trailer and a old Gremlin.

How was your Presidents day?

Paranoid?

@Gremlin, Sorry to hear about the battery fiasco. Is it easy to access the cell without removing body parts???

The "person" who stole the new battery out of my SV650 removed the two plastic covers used a Phillips screwdriver and Allen head tool to remove the two plastic body covers and the seat. Then they cut the battery cables when they could have just taken out the screws that held the battery connectors off the battery. They left the expensive after market seat and other body parts.

As Jerry Lewis would say. "That MAX no sense"

The SV650 is alive and well since I had taken off the battery cables and battery off the other SV650 I have. I purchased the positive and ground cables from a craigslist ad and new battery. The total cost is about $100 including sales tax.

@Gremlin,
Perhaps I'll put stickers on my bike that read "If you must steal the battery, please find the screws under the seat and use a screwdriver to remove the cables from the posts - here are the graphical instructions..." to avoid the inconvenience of U-hauling a bike and sourcing parts. Not worth claiming against the comprehensive part of the policy...

(I'm going to copy your "location" phrase: The Socialist Republic of Seattle)
