Those were the days before the belly pan was required. And also in those days, we had grid qualifiers in the morning to determine grid position for the afternoon mains.....those were the days. Before the bus stop, we also went straight from T-9 onto the entire front straight before there was a wall down the side.....anyone remember when we pitted inside of turn 9??
Good story about the good ol' days! Damon has a cartoon from the program that Seige drew with him passing me on the outside and my eyes big. I remember pitting inside T9 and rolling out on the staging lanes. I was also in the race that caused the buss stop, Jim Bailey RIP. Did you ever race at Coos Bay? This is Tyler and me out front:

No sir, not at Coos Bay. I also was in that Jim Bailey race......I think, wasn't that a 750 race?? If it wasn't a 750 race then I was surely there that day. Another sad loss indeed.

That was not too long after the wall was put in down the straight.

I liked not having the wall, I ended up having to use the grass one race as my bike went over the seams coming onto the front and got a tank slapper so bad (never back off) I had to run wide into the grass. Doug Renfro came by me looking over at me as to thank me for relinquishing my position to him.

I think I actually have one of my lapping you Petey….back in '91 or '92 at Portland in T-9. I'll have to dig it up at work and send it to my home PC.

I do have a shot of Greg Bowens and uh, Ryan Seahurst I think his name is. They were on my ass race long but they stayed there

SIR? Shoot, I was on that track on a motorcycle when it was Kent Pacific Raceways! Not racing at the time though. Snuck on and ‘had to lay the bike down’ just after the big sweeper. No, really, ‘had to lay ‘er down’ because they had stretched a rusty cable across to keep people from sneaking on the track. Like we were.
It was dusk, I was on a 6V bike, and saw the cable when it was about 10’ in front of me. Me and the bike both slid under it, got back up and kept going.
The good old days!

Thank you Brad, sadly....no bikes. I was under contract during my racing days and returned them at the end of each season.

HOWEVER...….I am casually looking for an '06-ish Suz liter bike......

I would have been a novice in '91 and riding my '82 Katana 1000. Same bike I was on in the bus stop race. I was leading Open Dinosaur in the second wave. I think first wave was 750 Superbike?
