Exclamation Left lane campers

For those of us that dislike people that block the left lane of the freeway, WSP is really cracking down in Snohomish County.

For all of 2018 they wrote a massive 14 tickets for blocking the left and an impressive 44 for pulling a trailer or driving a semi in the left lane too.

14 tickets, all of 2018? You gato be kitten me right meow.

At least we have RCW 46.61.115 or we would all be doing 45mph on I5.

Meh...I can care less, I just go around.

What I *do* like to see more enforced is distracted driving. That is really what is slowing traffic down and dangerous.

I watched a dude the other day on 405S SE 8th Bellevue area in a biiig black F350 on his phone and as I passed on my moto in the HOV, I just kept peeking in my mirror. He was going so slow, there was easily two tractor-trailer of lengths of space in front. Good news for everyone else merging in I suppose.

And as a motorcyclist I feel is our #1 danger right now.

However, as an observation...I think drivers are getting better at using phones and driving, because I notice less swerving into my lane. I just see...sllllooooowwer driving.

Yep, that many in a day wouldn't be hard to do.
Must not be easy revenue like speeding tickets.

That and catching people blowing through red lights, we could have new roads from the revenue in no time!

Sounds like they enforced it for 30 minutes....

I actually saw a trooper pull over a guy towing a boat in the left lane, a couple of weeks ago. It was the perennial northbound I-5 statie parked on the overpass just south of Mount Vernon. I only occasionally go that way, and he always seems to be there. Just like the one southbound I-5 perched on the bus ramp in Lynnwood.

I'd guess it's a lot easier to bust someone for driving too slowly in the left lane versus distracted driving. With the slow drivers the cop can get the speed gun to register it along with dash cam footage. But distracted driving is in the driver's seat; hard to video. Would wind up in a cop said / driver said scenario in court.

I suspect that very few people fight speeding tickets (I do) so that is easy money.

Left lane infractions probably are contested far more often with people either denying the crime or claiming ignorance. The WSP either takes a LEO off the road for half the day or don't show up in court resulting in the case being tossed.

Not easy money and isn't that the prime directive for the modern version of the WSP?

I hate to me-too but the cellphone thing is frigging insane. The phone companies have absolutely purchased our governing/legal system. The tech fix for the problem is trivial. It's the money fix that's the thing. There just isn't any other narrative that fits the facts. Is there?

Oh, and yeah, GTFO the left lane, bitches. #ontopic

So much road rage around left lane campers. Goes a lot smoother when everyone plays (mostly) by the rules.

PD is not a required presence at infraction hearings, even if you subpoena them.

It's a myth that the ticket gets tossed if the cop doesn't show. The cop's report is THE evidence against you, it stands on it's own. You have no 'right' to face your accuser, since it's not a criminal issue.
