Lane sharing in 2019 WA legislature?

I'm curious to know whether those who follow legislative efforts in WA have heard anything about the introduction of a lane sharing bill in the upcoming session. I hope there will be another run at this.

Thanks,

Rob

Bit of a non sequitur, but my lane was split by a car this morning.
The car wanted to make a free right, and apparently, I was in his way. Inches away from my rear tyre, he honks. Being the nice guy that I am, I inched forward, but he still couldn't fit through.
That would be considered cars splitting lanes, I think...?

Thanks, Larry. Any opinion on whether Rep. Clibborn’s retirement will improve the chances of passage significantly?

Didn't Clibborn refuse to even let any of the recent bills (at least in the last few years that I have followed) be heard at all?

I feel like it can't get any worse than that...

That would be a nope, but we still keep respectfully pressing the issue and educated our legislators. This is going to be a long haul issue.

^ Agreed. With oil you get a legal choice.

Lane Filtering vs Lane Splitting?

I don't what lane Sharing refers to... Personally I'm not a fan of Lane Splitting. However I am a HUGE fan and proponent of Lane Filtering. The idea that bike filter to the front of a red light. I wish they would at least pass that.

There's never been a law anywhere that required motorcycles to split. If you don't like it, no problem, don't do it. The only reason to not support legalizing it is jealousy that other people will be "cutting" in front while you can't or won't do it.

Honestly, I'm not getting this thought process.......

This is like hating apples, but loving apple juice..................or......... hating bananas, but loving banana bread........

Thank goodness I live on the peninsula, away from the Seattle/Tacoma traffic, but then again we have our own problems when the Bremerton shipyard gets off in the afternoon.......

We need Lane Splitting..............

My wife and I did a big trip last summer that took us through California. Once we hit the LA basin we hit traffic, of course, and after watching the local bikers splitting past us I took a deep breath and gave it a try.

It's marvelous and it benefits everyone.

I was cautious about it and kept an eye in my mirrors for splitters coming up behind me at a faster pace - I would move into the cage lane until they were past us. One time I was kind of extra glad that I did so as about a dozen full patch Mongols went splitting by.

My bad, I miss read his statement. That is correct, there is no law that "requires" lane splitting. If I lived on the Seattle side, and commuted, I'd be lane splitting.....
