However you will have a garage full of VROD parts and have to deal with craigslist flakes.

I would take the insurance money and move on

I see nothing in those pictures that says "extensive frame damage".

That's what they said about my current bike as well. But they simply were going by a scratched fork tube. We did all the measurements at the shop next door and it was completely straight.

Often, since most insurance adjusters know nothing about bikes, they prefer to err on the side of caution.

This isn't an adjuster. This is the guy in the repair shop at the Harley dealer...

It did tear the forward control off the lower frame/engine cradle. Is that cradle available?

Answered my own question looking at that parts fiche. Looks like that part is ~$300.

V-Rod motors are going for close to 2k on eBay, and yours has low miles going for it. You'd likely make a tidy profit parting it out.
