If you rode in the smoke, hows your air filter looking?

I took a few day rides in the Mt St Helens area this summer on days when you couldn't see the mountain for smoke and ash haze. I noticed when cleaning the bike later that everywhere that air passed through a constriction there was an accumulation of soot. Anyway, a newish air filter is looking a little so-so. Did anybody feel the need to change their air filter early after this riding season?

Road through Montana when it was on fire. Killer on your eyes but wasn't soot. No problems with the air filter and on mine it's right out in the open.

If you don't want to buy a new one just yet take an air compressor to it and blow it out from the backside side.
