As for In-n-Out... meh. I've had it before, and it's nothing to write home about. So many places have better burgers and fries.
Fries, yes... I respectfully disagree about the burgers.

I'm 5' 10" and a bit portly. The RSV4 is a bit more compact than the older R1. The RSV is a modern superbike.

I ate at In n Out when I was a kid in Los Angeles all the way back in the 1960's IIRC. Double Double and a chocolate shake. Uber good, but what a gut bomb! I would probably not go to In n Out now that I actually understand how a human body works with its food and what those burgers really are, but I have good memories of enjoying the heck out of them a long time ago.

Update, to share my misery. I got the bike with a bad stator, didn't realize at the time of purchase but the warning signs were there. Anyway, on advice from another RSV4 owner I took the opportunity to deal with some other maintenance at the same time. Valve adjustment, swap hose clamps, change gaskets, etc. all things that are "known" issues with RSV4's of this generation.

I started the process in November, ordered parts, borrowed tools, yada yada. Friday I was able to finally button everything up and fire her up. First attempt was... um... less than successful. Wouldn't start, found I had swapped coil lines and switched them and with some coercion the bike started. Wouldn't idle, something is obviously wrong. I swap back to different spark plugs and helps a little, but something is still wrong. Unfortunately, at this point it looks like I've mistimed one bank of cams and need to rip her apart again. Disappointed to say the least and a bit disheartened, but we live and learn.

Video of how she sits right now: http://youtu.be/IusWjhp-ISo

I'm at my national sales and service meeting in Tucson, AZ right now, so I'll get back to her this weekend when I get home.

Another way for a great adventure when buying an out of state motorcycle be it on Ebay or CL, is to fly down to Cal, then ride the new bike back, The trip will make for great memories. If it breaks down as my 916 did, you can always rent a van..

Sweet purchase! With a pipe one of the best sounding bikes ever, sorry to hear about the stator problems but im sure youl get it worked out. After 10 years of stator and charging issues it is kinda sad to see aprilia hasent sorted them out yet.

Oh I thought about it. Wouldn't have made it back in this case though.

Pretty sure I've caused my own problems here. Tried to cheap out and use zip ties for the throttle body boots, pretty sure this as a bad idea. Parts are on order, but like most weeks I'm traveling and will need to wait till the weekend to find out if I've actually find the issue.

The engine sounds mean even with the stock exhaust. Yeah, the stator issues are a bummer. Fortunately, they redesigned the flywheel and that seems to have fixed the issue. Fingers crossed.

16' Tuono Factory, 08' GSXR 1K Track, 15' Kawi Concours
Welcome to the Aprilia family. I absolutely love these things. To date I have had an 08' RSVR, an 07" Tuono R and currently a 16" Tuono RF. I too will be selling my dedicated track bike an 08' GSXR1K and using the Tuono for both street and trackdays. I also found that the riding position of the supersports was not entirely to my liking. Just to see how it performed on the track I took my Tuono along with the GSXR to a trackday at Pacific last year. I started out the day riding both, but by the end of the day was only on the Tuono. That was early in the track season, by the end of the season I wasn't even bringing the GSXR to the track anymore.

If you haven't already found them, check out Af1's Aprilia forum. It's full great info on our bikes with lots of maintenance how to's and Aprilia experts providing input and clarification on technical matters.
