I think I have a problem

Well, I picked this up today. '03 Yamaha R1. It's my 5th bike and my wife is not pleased to say the absolute least.

Bit of backstory, got the bike cheap due to some title issues. It would sound shady to the average person but knowing where it came from and who I'm buying from makes it a case of young guys being dumb and lazy. Anyway, the PO bought this, laid it down at slow speed, got scared and never rode it again. That was in 2013. It has been in his buddy's basement since. Well, his buddy wants move and he doesn't want to have to deal with the bike so I'm all over it.

At the very least I'm going to keep it and make it a track bike to replace my PITA GSX-R 750 that doesn't want to act right. For now it needs tires, chain and sprockets, a stator cover and a full fluid flush. The battery was replaced not too long ago so that should be good.

Hopefully I'll have this thing running by 7/18 and can ride it at the track. If anyone has a spare stator cover for a 02/03 R1 laying around collecting dust, please let me know. I'd like to take it off your hands.

Are you insinuating that someone can have too many bikes?

No. My actual problem is that I don't really have the space for more bikes.

I have a similar problem- not much space in the garage. However, I'm single and my gf has the same addiction!

Nice. Tell your wife at least you are not out cruising for younger/other women, and she knows where to find you most of the time. Rejoice!!

When a guy would bring another new gun out to the range and say his wife was unhappy about his buying it, the guys would assure him that after four they stop counting. I have verified that it's the same for guitars and cameras. I think it works for motos too.

Lol! She's definietly keeping count! She would be happier if I brought home another gun! I've got a few that I paid more for than I paid for this bike.

The first step is admitting you have a problem. The second step is building a bigger garage.

She might be upset that the trailer was unbalanced with only one bike in it.

Next time buy two just to make her happy that you were balancing the trailer load...

Well, cuz I was expecting to buy this thing I was able to pick up a set of Dunlop GP-A Pro take offs for nothing from a very good friend, I am expecting delivery of the stator cover tomorrow and ordered the gasket for it today. I also have all the fluids I need to do a full flush.

All I need is a chain/sprocket set and I should be good for initial hard parts.

I'm going to drain the gas tank in a few, put in some fresh gas, charge the battery and see if it'll start.
