Talking I'm not supposed to tell everyone that Mic bought a new 2015 Honda CB500X motorcycle.

I'm not suppose to tell everyone that Mic bought a motorcycle today. I picked him up in Bellevue, and we battled traffic to Auburn, where Mic bought a brand new 2015 Honda CB500X motorcycle. A new motorcycle is always a good thing.

And the obligatory pictures...

If you were on "regular" social media platforms you'd already know.

The odometer literally registered "0" when Mic took delivery and rode away from Hinshaws?

Nice thread Beans.

I needed a new project bike to adventure on. From doing some research, this looks to be the perfect match for me atm.

Sad thing is, I'm heading to Oregon today, but as a passenger, and won't be back until Monday night!

With an 8500 Rpm Redline I'm assuming it's strong in the bottom and mids for a 500?

Congrats on the purchase. It's odd to me that a volume store like Hinshaws would have a new leftover model from last year... the '500X is quite the popular seller.

The technician that did the uncrating and pre-delivery inspection must be extremely talented. Think of it! A semi-complex 2-wheeled machine with an internal combustion engine and all sorts of moving parts was made and assembled on another side of the globe. In an Asian country not named Japan. That very machine is then partially disassembled and placed in a rudimentary shipping container. AKA a "box".

Our box is then floated across an ocean many thousands of miles and travels by land further hundreds if not thousands of miles to arrive in Auburn. On the cargo ship it may be at the top of a stack of 20 or so bikes. It may be at the bottom or somewhere else. During that entire time it gets picked up and put down probably 15 to 25 times.

The tech here then takes the 'CB out of its snug little travelodge and re-assembles it. He/she then test rides it for less than 1 mile and determines the machine safe for Mic or whoever the new retail buyer is. We don't know how much less than 1 mile that ride was. However considering that someone in Thailand also rode the bike after MamaThai spit it out of her 500X womb... it can only mean it was even more "less" than 1 mile.

Obviously I think too much about, well, everything. However anytime I see a new street motorcycle sold with "0" on the odo it always gives me pause. No matter how good you are as a technician... how can you possibly know all is well with that small of a sample size? With apologies to Hinshaws as they are a known quality organization.
