That sucks, again. Maybe progressive isn't interested in motorcycle insurance customers in the pnw any longer...

Well, I rated the thread at least. But that really bites.

Progressive tried to fuck me over on a simple claim. Nasty hidden pothole screwed the suspension on our old car. It was cheaper to pay the deductible, but they sent out some kid who tried taking oddball measurements in my driveway, which was slanted and uneven gravel. Then they wanted to only pay part of the cost. Bastards. I have geico now on our new(er) car.

That reminds me. I should get a quote for the bike.

IMO we're not missing much. The last couple shows I went to were extremely disappointing. Nothing like what they were 15-20 years ago.

For insurance I have Allstate. Absolutely no complaints and great rates but I have home, automobile and motorcycles all bundled.

Maybe a bit obvious but: Motorcycle insurance requirements by state

If its not a target market then why would they spend money to market here?

Looking at the show schedule from last year, they cut 3 shows off the circuit. I didn't look closely at the locations, just number of shows. It's down to 7 from 10.

I agree with what others have said. The last 5 years or so the show went down hill. Back in the day when it was at the Seattle Expo Center before SafeCo or the CLink, shows were awesome with lots of local vendors and accessory peddlers that had actual products at the show to buy for pretty good deals. I miss those days.

Maybe if they all werent held in the dead of winter, more locations could be added.

My fault...I dumped Progressive last year on four bikes once Amica (my home and auto) started to cover bikes.

and last years show? Oct 31st? I was on Max when the driver decided to go through the flood waters downtown on my way to convention center. Good times.

I never liked the idea of having the shows in winter. Too soon for the local dealers to have actually gotten any new models in, too cold/nasty to ride or have demos. It's like they picked the time of year they should have been doing a used parts/tools swap meet for winter projects. If they have to do a show in the winter, do it in Florida or Cali or Texas or something. You know, someplace where winter involves putting on a hoodie...

Why are shows in the winter? Check out what is going on right now in Germany.

Fall is when the major international shows happen, where the manufacturers are introducing the new models. Winter had been the time when local organizations had shows and the manufacturers brought those new models on tour. This prepared buyers for the spring when those models would be available. At least that's how it used to work. In the old days (yes, I'm old) these shows were not dependent upon the local dealers, as the manufacturers themselves brought the cars/bikes. Unfortunately that is not the case anymore. Now, what bikes are at the show is often based upon what the local dealers can manage to acquire. Hence the reason at the show a couple of years back, the only Triumph 675s at the show were a full AMA SuperSport race bike, and a streetable copy of an AMA SuperSport race bike, but no actual bikes you could buy from a dealer. This, I think has been the major downfall of the "international" motorcycle shows of late. I never expected to walk away from the show with a new bike, or even be able to demo one, but I did expect to be able to get hands on, and maybe butt, every new model that would be available from each manufacturer.

I remember when the Seattle shows were good. They certainly had went to shit towards their end. I won't miss them one bit. I take that back, I do like the t-shirts.

There is a rumor/possibility about the series moving to summer and being held in Chehalis.

A link to the article

And a quote from the discussion -

"In a recent communication between an Advanstar staffer and a Sound RIDER! staff member, it was noted that there was a possible summer event in the works that would hit Chehalis in July 2017. "

I'd love to see something like the Carlisle, PA shows. Middle of August, all of the demo trucks, lots of local vendors, swap meet, trials bikes, stunt shows, burnout contests. I think they canceled it though, in favor of yet another branded car show... because having Mustang, Corvette, Miata, etc., etc. weekends already wasn't enough.
