How do you care for your leather gear?

Hey guys I was wondering how everyone takes care of their leather gear. I have some leather gear and up to now all i did was use some soap and water but i feel like it needs some conditioning. what do you all use for leather care?

Don't use soap and water to clean. A better choice is a nice vinaigrette.

Mix a little olive oil with some white vinegar. That makes a very gentle cleaner that works quite well. Also bear in mind that most leather these days has an acrylic (aka paint) colorant and sealer. Stuff like Lexol is very good for conditioning and will penetrate the leather a little better if you can get it on the back side of the leather where it hasn't been sealed over - not an easy thing to do with most jackets, but doable with gloves and suits with removable liners.

I've been using Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP (Leather Preservative) on my gear (jacket & pants, boots, and gloves) for awhile now, and have been really pleased with the results.

Same as soaking a corner of your towel in nutrient paste?

One piece and sectionals or jackets. In the washing machine with light soap then run a cycle with leather conditioner. Hang and air dry with a boot dryer in the legs (one piece) so it goes up into them.
Takes a couple days to dry out but they are clean and soft. Smell good too! Tightens them up slightly unless you dry too quickly then they tighten up more!
