Jan 2016 Issaquah 2015 Yamaha FZ-07 | How do we convince Honda to make a V4 naked?
I love my Yamaha FZ-07. I wouldn't trade it for any bike right now. Even if someone offered me a brand-new R1/Ducati Streetfighter/wahtever else for free I wouldn't swap. However, the moment Honda releases a VFR 800 Naked (if they ever do), I will have to trade in. I love the FZ but nothing could keep me away from a Honda V4. I test rode a 2014 VFR 800 and it was alright but I prefer a naked/more standard bike for sure. So the question is, would anyone else be on-board for a Honda VFR 800 NAKED? If they made something similar to the concept below I would be in the dealership tomorrow no matter the cost. ![]() |

Shouldn't nakeds be "built, not bought"? Not passing a judgment, just curious. I like standards, but in this weather, I wouldn't mind added protection of a fairing and a windshield. |

Maybe I am using the "Naked" terminology incorrectly. |

I just wish Honda would build an updated, lightweight VFR800, not the mild update in bodywork we got with the last update. Absolutely no reason in my mind to switch from my 5th gen, gear driven cams to the newest version, other than pretty bodywork.

How do we convince them to do something they have never done before? Simple. We don't. Over the years, Honda has never built a naked, all purpose "all-rounder" based on whatever their current supersport platform is. Of course they could press a button and do it. Of course it would be awesome. For whatever reason they don't do it. I have wondered the same thing for decades. As have thousands of others. I finally built a Big H naked SS myself 3 years ago and absolutely love it. Only problem is I love a hyper slightly more 😂 |

"How do we convince Honda to make a V4 naked?" Go to Honda. Stand out front. Remove all your clothes. Start talking. or you could just buy a Tuono, which is literally the exact bike you are asking for. ![]() ![]() Edited by Sentinel on Mar 29th 2017 at 01:26 PM |

Cafe styling, drag bars and rearset pegs? Not quite what I'd call a naked unless a naked is a sport with the fairing popped off and a bit of paint/trim so it doesn't look like vivisection. But yeah, I like Honda standards. To me the platonic ideals of an every day motorcycle are the 919 and pretty much any of their classic sub-500cc twins. (Also have a soft spot for the original, lamented CX500 Standard and Deluxe, but not the demicruiser Custom that they made a lot more of.) Edit: BTW, when did Honda start classifying standards as "Sport", and sport as "Supersport"? Sport - Honda Powersports Edited by WarpShatner7 on Mar 29th 2017 at 02:52 PM |

One issue with "building" a naked VFR is their radiator placement. It would definitely be better for Honda to actually engineer and design the bike as a naked. Sent via SM-G930V |

Okay, the original difference between a "Naked" and a "standard": the "Naked" concept was that of a "Naked Sport Bike", same bike minus fairings and different tuning for lower end power. A "standard" though is a bike built like the original motorcycles of the 60's and 70's, with steel tube, cradle frame, a straight backbone with straight seat and fairly flat handlebars. Think original CB750 and Triumph Bonneville. So big differences between the two. |

I thought "Standard" refers strictly to the seating position. So if we take VFR, replace clip-ons with a taller handlebar, and move pegs a bit forward, maybe add a flatter seat, it will become a "Standard", even with the same frame and fairings. Another thing I don't get is why remove the fairings if they are not broken from dropping the bike? |
