Perhaps something to Craigers post. India achieved independence from Britain using civil disobedience, Vietnam war ended with sit ins and demonstrations, lane splitting was done in CA forever n finally got legislative approval. If we just go about it and get cagers used to the fact that its happening maybe one day some far thinking(?) legislators will say.."OK". Be interested to know from the folks on this forum, how many have gotten cited for lane splitting and /or shoulder travel? I travel to CA often and split there. I dont get to the wet side of WA and OR all that much but if the opportunity presents I do. Never cited (been caught). I suspect (?) an LEO would be hesitant to turn on lights and make an existing traffic issue worse? Any way for one of the moderators to put up a multiple choice poll?

I once rode a shoulder in a horrible traffic jam up near Bellingham and sorta got pulled over by a trooper. Actually, he flipped his lights on and I pulled in behind him. We chatted and I explained that my engine was starting to overheat and so was I. He basically wagged his finger at me and we both went on our way as the traffic cleared not far ahead.

I have a friend that rides the shoulder regularly when the need arises and does it smartly and at an appropriate speed.

Maybe that is because you only have one State Senator?

I'll just put this here in this thread:
https://www.cyclenews.com/2021/03/ar...g-legislation/

Funny, liberal WA can be first in legalizing MJ, and other things, and now possibly SB 5212, which would legalize statewide mobile sports betting........ but got all conservative and threw House Bill HB1254 in the garbage.
What a joke

I'll have to agree with craiger........

It blows me away that OR & WA can decriminalize schedule 1 drugs yet not allow lane splitting/lane sharing/lane filtering. SB574 is up for discussion in OR but dollars to donuts it gets voted down. Mark my words. We can allow people to kill themselves with drugs and screw up their minds, but we won't allow you to pass other cars.

Fuck me runnin'.
