You will never long for power with a 2.3L inline 3 between your legs...

Going to be interesting to see what you think of cruisers once you start test riding them Didley.
I know that when I went from a ZX14 hyperbike like your Busa I wasnt impressed right away.
They all seemed slow and cumbersome until I stopped comparing them to sportbikes and took them for what they are.
Finally one day after many test rides I was on that Yamaha 1300 tourer tooling around a back road and said," I can do this! I can just chill and take in the ride and throb of a v twin." So I did. Didnt have the $12K back then for the Indian Scout. And the Raider and Stryker were also out of my price too, But that Yamaha 1300 fit the bill for Me.
Be fun to see what works for You. Please post up your experience!

And this is what a cruiser is all about. It isn't about getting through a set of corners quickly. It isn't about 0-60 times. It isn't about horsepower or lap times. It's about relaxing and just taking in the ride.

Yep, feet behind knees, hands low at stomach level. Same seating position as V-max. Not a cruiser.

I hate to #metoo, but if I was required by law to ride a cruiser I'd find a way to make it a Vmax.

Is a V-rod a cruiser?

If a V-rod is a cruiser a V-max is a cruiser.

Let's ask the pro:

Back on topic, OP want's a comfortable daily rider for under $8k.

OP, how many miles or long is your commute? If it's 90 minutes instead of 20 some bikes might work better.

Also, do you need any luggage?

V-Max & Diavel are muscle bikes IMO. Not cruisers at all.

I think he should try a cruiser before buying one they seem cool at first but if your performance oriented after a few rides i found them to be boring and only put a couple thousand miles On my vmax (3 months) before going back. I will admit it was nice not being looked at like Fresh meat by every Cop tho.

This does not make a cruiser, except in your world of fiction. But just in case:

A reasonable person would conclude that all 3 are cruisers.

I work on Harbor Island but will be living in Gig Harbor (well... it's pretty much Purdy). I'll be taking the ferry (thus, the motorcycle). I think total riding mileage is under 30 (one way).

Storage is actually something I should consider. I'll have a laptop for work, so I'll either be storing it (plus rain gear) in a back pack or in saddle bags.

I'd suggest something with bags then. Backpacks kinda suck on a regular basis, IMO.
Here is a smoking deal on leftover new stock;

2014 Yamaha V Star Deluxe 1300 Original MSRP $13,790

I would give this a serious consideration for replacing my touring bike if it was August.
Heres a old review

They had some problems with the Garmin but there is probably a cure by now. There is forums for them that you could check out if interested...,

I think something like a superduke or tuono would fit your needs
Better and still be comfortable, fun and easily in the budget
