Funny, how often do you hear the Harley riders on this forum bash Import bikes?

In reality, in all the interactions I have had with Harley riders I have not heard anyone "bashing" import bikes. Especially not as a generalization. Yes, I've heard them bash specific kinds of riders, that tend to ride sport bikes and sumos as a general rule, but they never lump all import riders or bikes into the bashing.

And as was pointed out by another member, the majority of people who ride Harleys these days are not the same type as in the 70s. Back then Harley riders were primarily the "hard core", MC type rider. That's not even close to the case nowadays. Most of the current Harley riders have either progressed to them through other bike styles and brands, or they are simply one of many bikes they own.

Yeah, you are probably right: we should retire our prejudices after so much has changed. Seems there is a lot of that going around these days...

I agree with MJN, we should show unity in this time of great division-ism. Though not my first choice, I would much rather ride any Harley than drive a minivan! All motorcycles are fun and we all know that!

As a guy looking for an Astro van to haul his race bike I am offended, terrorized and outraged by your lack of compassion.

Ive lived in a lot of places, if Im honest these forums are the only place Ive seen any of this Harley vs sportsbikes thing. Not on the roads, just on these forums.

I dont know what it was like 50 years ago, but I do know the fact that anyone here can proudly own a German, Italian or Japanese motorcycle in this country means old prejudices have died away with the generation that road into battle on a Harley 70 years ago.

These forums are the only places Ive come across that gets these topics. I dont see it in the real world.

I ride a Harley because this one moved my soul. Ill own a sportsbike again, but I wont trade in this bike for it like I did my Fz1 for this one.

The brand shouldnt matter. A motorcycle is a motorcycle. Ill wave to you no matter what you ride and always get a wave back no matter what i ride from any other rider. Like I said, Ive only seen this issue on the PNW forums.

I say we stand together and just go terrorize the Hipsters on scooters. We'll do it ironically, theyll be cool with that.

This site was almost 100% sportbikes when I joined in 2006. There were some metric cruisers and some sport tourers, but not a lot more.

It has gotten a lot more mixed, maybe because sportbikes lost their popularity as machines like supers, adventures and street fighters became truly good.

We also had at that time riders who had a lot of years of experience and had first-hand knowledge of bike evolution, cultural and mechanical.

Maybe other places you go do not have such a grizzled contingent of riders.

I don't go to any forums that cruisers use..any more...I rode with a cruiser groups for around 9 months...in both places I got hear all about how sportbikers race around in their funny little race suits and crash all of the time...plus all the squirrelly stuff the stunters do...it's not a one way street out there...if you haven't run into any self righteous Harley riders you're lucky..I guess...
9 times out of 10..if you see a post where someone is dumping on a stunter or someone filtering through traffic and you check their page..cruiser cruiser cruiser..."you're giving all of us a bad name" is their calling card...
finally..I personally don't know why this is..but the only group of riders who give a fuck about what others think about their bikes and get upset if it isn't all wonderful thoughts are....................

btw..I do know what it was like 50 years ago..even 60 years ago..before Japanese bikes...the disdain for foreign bikes hasn't gone anywhere even if it isn't as loud...

Um, is it the sentient gasbags of Megalon Zeta-3? Because if what you're saying/not saying is "here", I don't see a case of "getting upset if it isn't all wonderful thoughts", I see "literally cannot even raise the subject without a rote pileon immediately suffocating it". There's a lot of distance between the two. Check the first page of this thread. It's bad enough that's it's got people speaking up about it who don't even care about Harleys.

Really? As I asked before, have you seen any of the Harley riders on this forum bash any brand or genre of motorcycle, or bash on anyone who chooses to ride a different brand or genre of motorcycle simply for that choice? The only time we "bash" other riders is when they behave like idiots. And then, it is simply based upon their activity and not the bike they choose to ride.

Again, just look at the first page of this thread. Seven out of thirteen comments (not including the OP) were anti-Harley. Just on the first page. And this is the norm, not the exception. To make excuses that "everybody does it" just makes matters worse.

Just to remind you, this site didn't actually exist in 2006. That's the other one.

Riders are a family and like every family, siblings have no problem fighting amongst ourselves. When anybody outside the family does it, we should be uniting and responding as one.

I'm still seeing some that won't do that (on both sides of the fence), but thankfully it seems to be dying out.

The founder of both sites, our roots and most of the early members came from the old site when the old site betrayed us under new management. This is the real continuation of PNW Riders.

We are tribal monkeys. It really is that simple.

We are moved by symbols and signs, which is what brands are. The Harley/Honda thing is Apple/Microsoft or iPhone/Android or Demo/Repub or Christ/Islam.

I prefer the Puma M-12 LRV.

Thanks to OP for this thread. I found it actually entertaining. Kind of reminds me of my friend and I, when we have our discussion between our favorite football teams, Seahawks vs Cowpies...........uh I mean Cowboys.......

I have never been a Harley Hater, I'm just glad that with Polaris taking on the Indian name, we now have more Cruzer options...I have my eye on the Chieftain Classic as my next addition.
