Back in the '70's I ran my KZ400 off the edge of the canyon road up in Big Tujunga Canyon north of LA and got a helicopter ride for my trouble, along with a broken back. That is not a fun ride.

Thats why I have Lifeflight membership and the Hit air vest. A medivac on a chopper will cost your $20K easily. My Lifeflight $60 dollar yearly membership will cover this in all the states I ride.

Maybe not all, but its good insurance to have. Like AAA for the car.

I also now wear the Hit Air Vest. Lets hope I never have to use either of them.

  Here

That's a good buddy to have. He's not only there for his friend but he makes sure somebody's called 911 before he dives into the brush and never mind his gear and helmet.

He knows better than to fuck around trying to move the guy despite his awkward position, keeps calm and reassuring, tells him not to move, stays by his side.

I'd ride with this guy anytime.

Yes a good buddy. Limit the movement. My cousin crashed in a VW and was thrown from the car, friends dragged him up the hill to the road. Paralyzed from the waist down. Maybe if they would have let him stay in position this may not have happened?

I got the chance to watch a rider run off the cliff to the Lewis River while riding on NF-90...I can still see it as if I had video'd it...he was pretty much okay..his Ducati not so much...the soft dirt stopped him..a tree stump stopped his bike...

Keep in mind this is rescue-extraction, not lifeflight. Lifeflight membership isn't likely to cover fire/rescue extraction, thankfully that's what taxes are for (if deemed an accident you usually don't have to pay, though if they deem you did something illegal resulting in the need they can charge you)
