A good oil tutorial

I _KNOW_ it, an oil thread. But I liked the guys discussion.

The takeaway is that synthetic is better if you have long oil change intervals, and less better if you change oil frequently.

Dinosaur oil (its not. oil isn't dead anything) breaks down earlier due to additives....those darn expanding polymers....breaking down.

Think of it like bending a piece of plastic - after a while, it gives up and breaks.

Synthetic oil is mobetta also for high heat situations for the same reason.

And next - octane!

If Rotella T6 came in grades with a higher second number --- i.e. Xw-50 where X is what the fuck ever -- so I could run it in my boxer in summer I'd never use anything else. That stuff is indestructible and costs a fraction of that what that boutique European juice in the fancy bottles runs.

I was thinking how freaking advanced a civilization needs to be for such a thing as an oil-change video to exist.

That guy does a good job without insulting anyone’s intelligence.

My intelligence is a real bastard that insults easily.
