Thumbs up First Track Day & CRASH! Video

Did my first track day last week. It was really slippery most of the day, and I ended the trip with a lowside on turn 9.

Filmed at Portland International Raceway, 1080p/60 so check your viewing settings.

Thanks for looking!

Bummer you crashed on your first time out. My first TD it rained so I took it extra careful.

I'm only about my 3rd year doing TD, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Looking at the crash notice how you and the bike lean together? Remember the idea is for you to "hang" off the bike while trying to keep it as vertical as possible so you have more contact patch and counter steer. It didn't look like you were going to fast for the condition but it did looked like you were leaned over too far.

Nothing wrong with constructive criticism. I like that sort of thing. Most of what my instructor and I was working on there at the end was body position and being smooth. I have got much more practice due, but I felt much improved after the day. Thanks a lot!

Every year I feel like I'm starting over but it comes back faster each year.

Looks like tricky wet/dry conditions with more rain coming later.
The "thumbs up" came shortly before the crash, but the track looked damper ahead then the previous laps.

Maybe the lean angle and front brake application the lap before worked great, then the rain picked up, dampening that corner more.

Bike looks fine and you must be too.

How did that two piece suit hold up.
It looked like the mid section would be vulnerable to a crash from the tail camera?

I dont think i could do a track day in the wet. i ride daily rain or shine but i am just too nervous bc i havent ridden in years (and i only have one bike). that being said...

i am glad you came out ok. bike looks repairable. any time a rider can walk away is always a relief.

thank you for posting the vid. not for the wreck, but for the rest of the ride. seeing the lean angles and body positioning really helps.

It was certainly slick out there. 4 of 5 rider taking the performance school went down that day. The one who didn't went home early.

Yeah, I didn't feel a thing. The suit held up amazingly, I was just cleaning the dirt off of it. Tiny bit of scraping on the pants, but overall it looks almost as good as before. It's a zip together 2 piece so there were no issues.

It was loads of fun despite the rain. Made me slow down and focus on other things. Thanks for the feedback. I REALLY learned a lot from my instructors and am very glad I went even though it was wet. I was supposed to be thunderstorms that day.
