First time you ever got a knee down

I hope it's okay to post this here.

Does anyone happen to have a photo of the first time they "drug" knee?

Yes, it's true, with as much "professional" track time that I have under my belt, I was once a street squid.

My best friend from the Air Force who actually teamed up with me to form Bolt Racing in the late '80's and early '90's, were avid street riders, or should I say, aggressive

The photo is from early '80's on a 650 seca, local, somewhere near Dash point.

And like the squid my buddy was, he only brought one Velcro on knee slider, so you would have to keep changing it over from the top of the run to the bottom

Lol, good for you. Being introduced to the track saved my life!! I was an idiot street rider. These bikes were made to go fast.....who was I to deny them

It was 1982, Holmes Point near Kirkland, 1976 RD-400. Got right knee down, then hip, shoulder, and head. Very memorable. No helmet either. Slid of the road and flew landing in a muddy creek up to my knees. Not a scratch or bruise on me. Took my buddy and I plus 2 good Samaritans over an hour to drag and huck the bike out and up a 9 foot embankment. Forced the bars back straight, used a rock to bend the foot peg back down and rode it 5 miles home.

I miss that bike.

First time I ever got a knee down was 1972 riding my new OSSA pioneer 250 enduro. In Charleston South Carolina at the Air Force base they had several wide open acres of smooth sand/clay mix. You could stand on the pegs and 360 in 100ft circles. One time I low sided and hit my knee on what had to be the only rock for miles.Damn that hurt. As the title sez, first time knee down. For me it’s the only time.

Stranger things have happened. Was always a draw to local riders.

I LOVED the school! Of course Kevin was there the whole time and his mom and dad provided the water and snacks between sessions and lunch both days. His uncle maintained the bikes and Kevin's GORGEOUS girl friend Marnie handled administrative duties.

At one point I missed a tight corner and went into the weeds. After I got it under control I looked up and Kevin was sitting on his bike on a hill and just shook his head as if to say, you fvcked up dude!

Everyone in the class was very friendly and we had a great time. I got the privilege of meeting Britney Morrow of "Rock The Gear" fame (https://rockthegear.wordpress.com/20...-am-my-helmet/). You may or not remember Britney's harrowing true tale of her being blown off the back of a sport bike at an extremely high speed in 2005. It severely scarred her for the rest of her life, which she showed us in the class. I can tell you that she is a very positive person who, when I met her, worked as a MSF instructor at the Navy base in San Diego.

I also met PJ at Home - Sportbikes4Hire. He arranged the entire class with Kevin and also got VIP tickets to the 2013 COTA MotoGP, which got us into the garage of Stefan Bradl during qualifying. THAT was WAY cool.
