Talking EBR IS BACK!!! Yes, you heard it, Buell is back!

Well, I posted a while ago about rumors Buell might be back (if someone bought it from the liquidators) and it turned out to be true!
All old debts are paid off and the wheels are in forward motion towards new bikes rolling off the line!

Would be nice to see something in the 10k range. I always like the old XB12's and they were around 9k new.

I understand the price isn't a budget bike like an FZ-07, or a Grom, but it isn't priced like a Starbucks status symbol. It'd be interesting to see what the breakeven point is in terms of sales for EBR at this price point).

(Not that I wouldn't have an Italian if I had an extra 20k. Italian bikes give a lot of smiles per mile to those that actually ride 'em. I had a blast on my buddy's Monster one time. Stood it up twice on one ride).

Compare the stats of this bike to anything in it's segments, it's favorable reviews, and only glaring issues that comes up is not the bike, but sadly EBR's financial luck. Hero really fucked them, just as you thought they were starting to gain some traction. With a solid American investor I'm hoping this does not happen again, but we see them making successful American sport bikes.

I had all but decided that the 1190rx was going to be my next bike. I was doing the math to figure out what to do with the ninja, how I wanted to spec it out, etc., then came the bankruptcy filing. Couple months later, ninja gets totaled, and an EBR isn't a viable option (bellevue Kawasaki had a few, but i wasn't going to buy a brand new bike with potentially no parts support) and I end up with the Street Glide I have now.

If I were in a position to pick up a 2nd bike, this would be it.

For a big naked the numbers are very competitive. The thing makes 185 hp and 101 ft. lbs. of tq. and weighs in at little over 440 lbs.

Are they using the Rotax engine or that lump of V twin Harley calls an engine?

A HD engine that makes 185 hp would have to be at least 3-liters.

The article says someone at the factory was building engines. Does that mean they are an EBR design or is the guy just assembling or installing engines?

It's a Rotax engine that is further massaged by EBR to their spec. I believe it's the same engine platform that came in last generation Aprilia RSV and Tuono.
