I'll use my horn when in a car but I don't want to give any of the idiots out there reason to think they have a god-given right to take me out on two wheels.......

My favorite thing right now is the scrolling reader board along WA-3 that distracts motorists from driving to inform them that there are distracted driver emphasis patrols going on.

If I'm cut off by a distracted driver (which happens about every 30 seconds where I live) I just move on. I'm so accustomed to terrible driving now. You guys are living in paradise.

You throw the pennies at the cager while riding at speed and the noise when the pennies hit the car should awake even a very drowsy driver.

However, I have also heard the used spark plugs can shatter car windows when aimed just right at a cager. An added bonus used spark plugs are free from any car/motorcycle repair shop.

These are old motorcyclist revenge tales. Try them at your own risk.

Or don't. Imagine how you would feel if your actions caused the cager to crash and kill him or herself or, worse yet, some completely uninvolved motorist, motorcyclist, or pedestrian.

Leave the law enforcement to the folks your taxes pay for and just keep a wary eye out for driving idiots. Give yourself some distance, emotionally as well as physically.

"If you don't let them know they have done wrong, they won't change their habits. Might as well take the horn out of your car if you're that afraid of confrontation."

There, fixed your grammar so that you know that you are wrong.

And really, is it your job to make sure that people know that they are wrong? As was stated, it's one thing to honk your horn in a car, but a completely different thing to flip someone off while riding a bike. There's an equality in the former that isn't in the latter. Have you seen the damage a simple sideswipe by a car can do to a motorcycle?

One of my duties in Iraq was to go to outlying FOBS to repair/replace their secure comms equipment. We had an up armored suv and we went in a 2 or 3 man team. Anyway, I drove most of the time and I never stopped for traffic when possible, if I had to stop I always left enough room for an escape route, never got boxed in and I constantly looked for an escape route. Looking and planning two or three maneuvers ahead. Cataloging every vehicle in sight and mentally assigning each a threat level. These among other tips served me well and kept me alive. Now I find I use the same evasion tactics when riding my bike.
