I have known some welders in my time and I will say that altercations with them many times will turn out badly... Just sayin'...

I've never been a chopper fan, so I have no idea how ergonomic they actually are, but that thing looks absurdly uncomfortable. The distance between the bars and seat seems really far based on the picture.

I built a 1974 Sportster in the early 80's with a hardtail, inch thick seat right on the rear fender, extended, raked, forward controls, 'Z' bars, straight pipes, sissy bar. It was cool for about two months then I got rid of it. Had to run 12 lbs in the rear tire just to keep it that long! Rough riding, slow speed handling was horrible, but man did it look great!
First wife and I were having problems. She went for a ride on it (the passenger pegs were clear up by my butt) and within a mile she said, "Take me home, I feel like a whore on this!" Fondest memory I have of it!

Some darn fine 90's schwag here lol. I got these leathers with a Ducati 907ie with 12k miles. The bike and the Vanson had not been used in a long time. The bike will awake from reanimation surgery soon but alas these white skins don't quite fit haha.

Imagine it was 1993 and you flew to Long Island NY to buy your Ducati from Ghost Motorcycles. Now picture yourself donning this suit and riding your red Italian jellybean back to Seattle. May as well stop at the Sturgis event and see whats going on right?

I'm told he was shown "the door" and there were a few bud cans thrown in his direction on the way out.

Can't make this stuff up!

"This one piece racing leather suit is a men's size 38 aka small. Its 90's vintage and has been hanging in a closet unused for years. Never crashed in or damaged. All the zippers and other enclosures work as they should.

Includes the leather key fob with the Vanson serial number to the suit stamped in it.

Very clean old school racing gear that quite frankly does not seem all that different from modern present day Vanson gear."

I bought a banged up one to restore for $175 shipped that is very similar to this one so I know it's a great quality heavy duty leather suit and just needs some leather honey slathered on it to make it plush again. It'd be sold already if it were my size

This looks like maybe one of "The Good" and if I were in the market for a fun ride (and not trying to sell my own extra motorcycle (as if you can have that):

Re:that Vanson suit. I just bought one on ebay for $75 that is rough. But it's my size (well, I hope). The Vansons have such a great reputation and yet look so dated. I'm curious to compare it to my older, very technical for the time Dainese suit. Needs some repair and redye I'm going to try something fun with a redye, like all over checkered flag or hi viz plaid. If you guys are interested I can post about the project.

The size 40/30 two piece? I missed that one. If it doesn't fit I'll be interested in purchasing it from you - damaged and unpainted. I still have some stitching to do on the suit I'm restoring. Hand stitching is hard!

Yeah lotta dough to spend on a bike that is designed to win a competition with no prize money. Land speed racing is such a DIY thing that I'd guess it would be tough to sell even a record holding bike.

The suit I bought is this one, size 44US. I'm a 42 "before back armor".

Like I said, it looks pretty rough. One small hole and thinned leather to repair and a tear in the stretch kevlar. This will be my sixth redo and not insurmountable, I think.

Not sure how you are going about the stitching, but two tips I have are 1) prepunch the stitch holes with an awl, and 2) get a set of needles that includes a curved one. Be sure to go two holes forward on top and go back one underneath to create a strong overlapping stitch, and do the last stitch in a row two or three times to hold it. I use Kevlar, Vectran or Dyneema thread and scraps of kangaroo hide for patches. Been watching for a deal on a commercial sewing machine that can handle track suits and jackets, but no joy yet. Most are too puny to handle the thickness.

Keeping with the CL subject, this is the s**t, and believe it or not that's $400 off retail. We have, however, crossed into a realm where you have to send your suit to the dealer after an off to be recharged and inspected. So that's just the first part of what you will spend on it. There is one on ebay for $1650 and the guy shows an invoice for something like $650 for getting it redone after what he describes as a minor lowside. Definitely better than a $30K hospital bill though.
