Asphalt and Rubber Shootout

I'm interested to see how this turns out. A Superbike Shootout at Portland International Raceway from the good geeks at A&R. The idea is to remove all the crazy big-time factory support and SoCal / Euro vacation elements to provide a more realistic view.

Very relatable... except for the $20,000 price tag. Could be a foot in the door for more everyman reviews local to the PNW though. One of the comments mentioned an ADV test and JB had a somewhat positive response.

Thanks for the article. Really interesting. Here's the next in the series, I think:

Most superbike comparisons I've seen include track and street portions. The bracket is interesting tho. But also just realized there's no R1?

"When our Deathmatch rules wouldn’t offer an opportunity for manufacturers to test at our possible venues ahead of time; when we then weren’t willing to relocate rounds to a race track in Southern California; and when we wouldn’t allow trackside support from OEMs, the conversation with Yamaha changed rather quickly.

Suddenly, a Yamaha YZF-R1M wasn’t available to Asphalt & Rubber, and hence it is absent from our lineup. As the old maxim goes though: in order to win, first you must show up. As such, the Superbike Deathmatch claimed its first victim, before a wheel even had a chance to turn on the race track. Brutal."

Ehh...still kindof weak considering the Panigale wasn't Ducati provided either. Props to them for being ambitious, that's still a lot of bikes to pull together!
