Well. I got the plastic off. Looks like it is a little more than i want to try myself. It isn't TOO ugly. It just looks well-used. The piston moves smoothly when i kick it. I would think all the tubing and other soft parts need to be replaced. I guess the forks need a rebuild, and the bearings all need changed. And the front brake doesn't work. Looks like it might be dry. I wonder if there are any two-stroke genius shops in the PNW. Anyone know someone who could do a decent restoration back to original? It would be worth something to me to do it, I think. I'm not a collector or anything, but this motor...... |

Ohhhh a CR500AF! Neat! So you want to part with it? How do the welds on the frame modification look? I hear they were prone to cracking. |

The frame looks great. The bike was not abused. It looks like it will clean up nicely. I just want to find someone who knows what they are doing to go through the motor, the carb, and the electrics to make it run right. I can take the forks to a shop for a rebuild. The wheels are straight and even the tires are good. I think I can do the work on the chassis" bearings and seals and such. I don't know - if I got the motor going I think I might want to sumo it. |

I've heard these guys know what they're doing. I ran into a guy at the track with a Sumo CR500 that was singing their praises. No personal experience but you'd get a great exchange rate. www.millarengines.com Nice bike by the way, I'm extremely jealous |

I think the moto gods would be pleased to see this turned into a sumo.

Or throw a paddle on and head out to Sand Lake. Course I still got a femur rod from the last time I was out at SL on a CR Five-Hundy so I might not be the guy to listen to. ![]() |

I'd love to make a track sumo out of those of those someday, and it could keep my XR company....someday!

There is an mx vintage restoration shop in Spokane if you care to come this far, Allen's Cycle Restorations. From the 1960's to the 1990's restorations are completed. They have completed several of my race bikes. Some pics of their work is offered, including Cagiva's that I will be racing this year. |
