AMA renewal online- they need to fire their web designers!

I attempted to renew my AMA membership tonight. The screen refused to take my credit card info from two different cards. It also refused to let me update my contact info and picture. When I returned to the payment screen for another attempt, I received an error screen. I have attached a link to the screenshot of that screen. Its quite crap-tastic.

This is highly disappointing. I started and have renewed my membership online for almost 10 years, and have never had a problem until this year.

I am concerned with the very poor error handling of the AMA web design, and due to that, I now also question the security of my payment information. Until I have confirmation that my info is not compromised, and the AMA site works properly, I will not be renewing, period.

YMMV, of course.

Rather than manually renewing each year, opt for automatic annual renewal, which makes you an AMA Champion. This automatically provides you free roadside assistance for no additional charge over the annual fee for renewing manually each year.

Roadside assistance is provided free for all the vehicles you, your spouse, or at-home or at-school children drive or ride. It's good for breakdowns, dead battery, out of gas, etc, but not for crashes. I used it once to have my car towed when a brake cylinder ruptured and left me stranded.

It's a free useful benefit, and you don't need to remember to renew each year.

I second this! I auto renew. Also, the roadside assist is available every two weeks! So you get a tow, and two weeks later you are eligible for another tow.

Cheers!

Exactly what I do. HOWEVER...when the credit card on file expires and you have to put in new information, that doesn't work. Such is my case.

AND it doesn't excuse shoddy web-design, regardless.
