-ALMOST- makes a KTM worth it

I've had a KTM and didn't like a couple of things about it so i sold it.
But this video is pretty convincing.
I am one of those old-school guys who mostly thinks rider nannies are marketing BS and an excuse for riders to have weak skills and manufacturers to jack up margins.
TLDR - thinks he's an excellent rider who doesn't need abs.
Still - dang.

So, why are we braking hard enough in a corner to activate the ABS? Asking for a friend...

Because the corner got there a lot quicker than your friend was anticipating, and he had passed his skill set on the last straight?

On a positive slant, it's kind of like having an extra guardian angel.

The original angel of mine is useless; he's old school. Keeps telling me to just push the inner handle until I see sparks.

RC8R makes a KTM worth it if you can get over the orangutan face.

There is Ktm I am considering, just for that reason.
I mean, is it worth a few thousand to get all the safeties?
If it means you miss one crash?

Problem is they discontinued it in 2015 so it's not going to have the current form of the technology described in the video.

But yeah, crazy amazing bike. Though I thought it was pretty funny when Henry Cole used it as a tourer to do Bavaria's Romantic Route. Makes sense if you have a camera car following to carry your suitcases....

Zero electronic helpers on the RC8R. Just the gray mush between your ears.

I do a bunch of sport touring on mine. Hard part is luggage. No one made mount kits and the there is not much in the tail section. Had to fabricate all my own mounts for saddle bags and top case. Really a great super sport to tour on. LONG legs, low revs, massive torque, fantastic fuel economy and a large tank. Just missing a fuel gauge.
