ALERT!!! My 2005 RC 51 (Black) Stolen 4-4:30 am hour ago Renton !!

Please, please keep your eyes peeled around Renton or beyond. I know I am doomed...but I better post.

Yes, we talked about this a couple of weeks ago, but I do keep my keys in the bikes.

Ugg. My daughter just put her razor skooter along the side of the garage and the door never closed. <- that is my security...the door being closed.

I juuust realized that they took my helmet and gloves. Holly shit! I have to keep my gear in there currently due to remodling.

They came back for the other, but I was outside and chased them down in bare feet.

White like new/shiny Mecedes CLS, tinted windows... ya know a car a thug would have because the steal these things.

Glad they caught the dirtbags. Glad your OK. Chasing dirtbags can be inherently dangerous if they are armed.

Yes, after my adrenaline came down, i realize i could be laying in front of my neighbors house dead or dying.

So, again, no key on the ground or close by in the wooded area. They dumped it lightly on right side, so mirror busted, and front vowel scratched.

But is on its kickstand. So they were kind enough to pick the bike back up.

I am still waiting for tow as of this writing timestamp Kennydale Arco...if anyone want to keep me company

Yes, I heard the bike fire up. My neighbor witness said they walked the bike down the cul-de-sac and then started and went. To me, it sounded like my neighbors Harley two houses down the road. So I did not think it was my bike

So, no warm up period and yeah, they did not know it takes serious, serious skill to ride a Superbike class bike.

New question.

So now I have no key. Can Honda get me a replacement or do I need a whole new key/start assembly?

Now they can come back any time. That's why they kept the key. Good thing you got it back though!

If you have a key code, you should be able to get a replacement key made from most Locksmiths (though you should call to confirm). If you don't have a key code, many Locksmiths can create a key, but they'll need access to the bike's ignition lock to do so.

Replacing the Ignition Lock Assembly is definitely an option, but if your bike has other locks that are tied to the ignition key (gas cap and rear seat release) you would also need to replace those units as well, and you may or may not be able to get them in a set that is keyed together (use the same key).

My best advise would be to call the service department of your local dealership, and explain the situation. Hopefully, they can at the least let you know if they have a prefered locksmith who they use to fix lock issues for them.

Yes, I just got off the phone with my insurance claim dude. He said the same thing. I will get the ignition swapped out. But in the meantime, I think I will be double locking (putting the metal tongue through the rail) my garage until the repairs happen.

Now I have to go get a new helmet, and gloves, plus repairs (insurance will reimburse).

This is a good reminder to have extra keys made before we loose them. I always take an extra key with me after another rider bent her key when trying to unlock her saddlebags.

I had a Honda Interceptor in the 80's that got stolen twice and dumped in the ditch a few blocks away. The thief ripped the ignition switch wires (3) out and STILL could not (same guy?) get it started.
Cops thought they knew who did it but without catching him with it they thought there would be little chance they could do anything. Sucked!
