Unique VFR800 (slightly OT)

My nephew is quite a motorcycle guy. Has three of them right now; KTM, BMW and Kawasaki if I remember right. Lives down in LA and appreciates all kinds of cars and bikes. He recently bought this custom VFR800/N600. You have to see it to believe it. It was recently featured on a Video show called "One Take." There's an ad that takes 45 sec at the start but after that, let the fun begin.

Definitely a unique ride. I'm wondering if anybody has tried a 'busa in one?

Yes, that has been done too. In fact I saw a GSXR powered Mini Cooper (early version) at the Sherwood car show a few years back.

What is so cool about this VFR powered N600 is the build itself. That is a beautiful little car. Bodywork and paint are flawless. The conversion to rear wheel drive is very jalop. Love the sound. Although not apparent in the video, the interior is equally well done.

I read about this car when it was auctioned last June on Bring a Trailer. Incredible build with insane attention to detail.

Is your nephew the buyer from the BaT auction?

The actual build thread is over the top:

Yes, my nephew is the one. Dang kid got me hooked on that website now. Thank you for including the link to the build thread. It surely shows the level of detail and craftsmanship put into it. Steve has remained in contact with the builder. Interestingly enough the builder is a teacher and does projects in his spare time. I believe he is working on a Volvo P1800 now.

i wonder how "a motorcycle gearbox" is going to handle all that weight.

From all the vids I've seen of this car being flogged/enjoyed... looks like it handles it just fine.

It's a toy. You play with the toy. Your toy might break someday. In which case you fix your toy. In that scenario you throw in another VFR800 motor and play some more. If memory serves the car came with a spare motor.

I raced against a car called the "MetroGnome" at a ChumpCar race in Sonoma. It was a Geo Metro with a CBR1000 motor in the passenger seat driving the rear wheels with a chain. It came by our BMW 2002 like it was chained to a post and sounded like an F1 car! It won the race against much larger and more powerful vehicles and seemed quite reliable in the 7 hour race.

It shows how incredible the motorcycle experience is. Not only are they light and good handling, but they have near Formula 1 engines in them. Hitting a 12,000 redline is such a thrill on several levels.

Sounds like a LeMons build.
