Input appreciated guys: can the 2004 cbr1000rr motor be replace with the 06-07

Hi guys, does anyone have any experience or know of anyone that was able to install a 2006-2007 Cbr1000rr motor into the 2004-2005 model?... engine is blown through a piston/rod out side of crank case. I have read they are same engine with 5hp more... would work with 2004 ecu just fine, maybe have to swap two sensors? Can you guys chime in any input appreciated.

Not sure, but if you used 06-07 wiring harness and ECU, it could make things easier...

If you want to confirm if the '04 harness and ECU might work, look for differences between two models such as injectors, cams, valve size, etc., anything that has an impact on the tune itself and type of the sensor the ECU needs to see.

I'd still just go with the right ECU and harness for the engine year as it should make things a lot easier. You should not have much of an issue finding both on Ebay for not a lot of coin.
