Anyone Running a Power Commander on their FI Sumo/Single Cylinder Bike?

I have a 2008 fuel injected Husky 510 SMR and looking at improving engine performance. The baby bear spot is about 3-5k RPMs. Above that it can be poppy and laggy.

Is a PC the answer? The recommendation I am getting is the PC for both fuel and ignition (as opposed to fuel only.) I had the engine torn apart this last summer (probably 300 miles ago) by Bill's in Salem so I don't think I have a top end or valve issue but it just doesn't seem to run great.

Thoughts? Am I just wasting dollars here or is it worthwhile?

Full disclosure: I'm a dipshit on most things mechanical.

Edit: Apparently I'm also a dipshit on the category I selected. Should have put this in Technical.

John, what did Bill have to say about this?

Haven't spoken to him about it. This idea came about as I was having new tires put on and was asking about what a PC could do for me.

Guessing I should give Bill a shout?

I had Nels at 2WheelDynoworks install a PCV on my former 2013 Husky TR650. It eliminated the stalling problem most of those bikes came with, smoothed out the power delivery, and added about 5 hp (blue line = stock, red line = PCV with custom tune).

+1 on Nels too. Give him a call or drop him a note about it. He'll be able to tell you right off the bat what he can do for that bike.

John does your bike have the "power up" kit? It gets rid of the of O2 sensor and resets the ECU to a different - "competition" - map.

Quote:
2008 power up kit...Arrow slip on exhaust, throttle stop plate removed, removal of lambda sensor from mid exhaust pipe and replaced with lambda sensor plug and gasket, add lambda sensor connector where lambda sensor wire was connected, remove intake silencer and added high flow air filter cage.

What does a power up kit consist of smr 510

OP, if you haven't done the power up kit then do that first. I have an extra resistor and Napa has the oil drain plug for the O2 sensor hole. No need to buy the expensive version of the power up kit.
If you want to go further, I also have a JD tuner that could be for sale that I bought for my TE610 and never used. Talk to me offline if you want any of it.

I have the power up kit on it. I bought the bike from the second owner. He was trying to figure out why he got it with an extra slip on exhaust. It was the original Arrow slip on.
