Daytona 675 Project

I had this project up on the old site so I figured I would put it up here too. Here are a couple pics of my starting point with the bike pretty much stock. Pictures and narration to follow.

This is a 2007 Triumph Daytona 675. This originally started as pre-season maintenance, but soon I decided I wanted to make some larger changes.

Goals for the project:

-powder-coat the rear sets, tail frame, rims, tank, and engine covers
-paint the plastics
-520 chain sprocket conversion
-integrated tail light
-competition werkes exhaust
-integrated turn signal mirrors
-driven block-off plates
-coolant hoses
-brake pads
-air filter
-wheel bearings
-oil & oil filter
-coolant and brake fluid flush
-pro-bolt engine covers and body bolt kits
-spark plugs
-tuneecu tune

The following pictures are of the initial take-down of the bike

Here are the fairings off the bike before I rebadged them and wet-sanded them and the tank and tail frame after powder-coating.

These from the first ride since I had reassembled it. I went down to my local self wash and degreased and washed the engine.

Daytona 675 Project

Here are the finally assembly pics. This is how the bike looks now. I still need to paint the plastics, but everything else is done. I still have some other items on my list to do that was not in this original project budget. I've rode several times since finishing this and absolutely love it. I will finish the paint in a few months. The following items are on my to-do list:

-Sargent seats
-Driven fuel cap
-Rizoma bar ends
-Rizoma front and rear bike stand spools
-Zero Gravity windscreen
-ASV clutch brake levers
-Watsen flush mount turn signals
-TechSpec tank pads
-Extreem Bikeworks stunt bars
-Ohlins rear shock
-Ohlins steering dampener
- tune from Nel's

Daytona 675 Project

Credits:

All of the parts were purchased from Tacoma CycleGear, BikeBandit.com, Triumph of Tacoma, PNWRider members, or craigslist sellers.

Faron @Gixxertek replaced the bearings in my wheels and the clutch cover.

Jeff @ Forever Powdering-coating in Tumwater did all the powder-coating on the tank, tail frame, wheels, and engine covers.

Jay @ CycleGear in Tacoma removed and mounted/balanced the tires.

All these guys do amazing work and I recommend going to them for your bike needs.

Looking good, lot of work you've put into that. What will the color be for the plastics?

Sent from your mom's house using Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Thank you. It was a lot of fun. The plastics will be painted the same pearl white that the tank and wheels are.

What stunt cage? I'm only seeing sliders.

Ahhh. Somehow we both missed that.

So yeah, why the stunt bars?

675Rocket Feb 16th 2016 04:18 PM

It's not a whole cage. They are just three point mounting bars that mount in the same area as the frame sliders. My thoughts were to powder oat them the same orange and they would provide a little more protection then just frame sliders. The drive for Ohlins just came from the fact that the 675R runs that equipment stock and they would be an improvement over the stock setup.
