2008 Aprilia Tuono 1000 R

$5250

This 1-owner machine was purchased new in February of 2012 at Ride Motorsports in Woodinville. It was a 0-mile example not a dealer demo unit. It has been used as a Seattle area work commuter from new. The bike was routinely dealer serviced just down the street from the owner's condo at Moto International. 14842 miles on the odometer today 2/1/2016.

At 14841 miles, this machine got brand new synthetic Shell 15/50 oil, new filter, new clutch/brake hydraulic fluid and a brand new chain/sprocket set. The rear sprocket went up 2 teeth (from 40 to 42) for slightly less dramatic in-town riding. The front sprocket is a new 16t oem and the chain is a D.I.D. VX racing model.

The Michelin tires are about 1k miles old. The battery is semi-recent. At 12500 miles it got a full service including valve adjustment and valve cover reseal by Jason W. at Moto International. This Tuono runs/rides/operates exactly as it should.

Cosmetically it is pretty decent, although it shows it's "commuter" status in several areas. The exhaust header pipes (especially under the engine) have that baked on goodness that only Seattle rain can provide. There is dirt/grime deep in some of the crevices that is very stubborn. This model (when actually ridden in the real world) has always been particularly difficult to keep looking "like new" in my experience. All criticism aside, it still looks pretty sharp.

The bike has never been crashed or seriously damaged. There are very faint signs of 0-mph tipover damage on the radiator shroud, lever tips, etc. A couple small scratches here and there. From day 1 the bike was parked in a semi-secure parking garage but once upon a time a crackhead tried opening the rear seat compartment without the key. They failed in that endeavor but succeeded in cosmetically damaging the key hole. The lock still functions normally and the ignition area was not touched.

Includes the owner's manual, toolkit, service records and 1 factory key. The rider footpeg feelers, rear seat strap, front/rear reflectors, kickstand safety switch and most warning decals have been deleted. Zero modifications otherwise.

1. The owner lived in a Condo and not a SFR? Oh the horror!

2. How do you know it was a crackhead who tried to jimmy the lock? Could it have been a tweeker? This is so funny to me. I guess in his twisted little mind, it looked like a car door lock.

You're killing me here. Lol. Yes. Condo. Not a single family residence. The 'priller slept next to his Camaro, Corvette, WRX-STI and old 360 Honda. He paid $$$ for parking.

You're right of course. I don't know if it was a crackhead, tweaker, etc. Although I'm guilty at times for using that as a general term to describe any miscreant and/or philistine that comes around.

I should therefore apologize to any crackhead offended by my post.

I'll couldn't stand looking at the exhaust headers on this bike any longer. It made an otherwise presentable Aprilia appear weathered and worn. Yesterday I bought a mint replacement set. Within a week this will be a gorgeous machine again.

Well, on 2nd thought, as gorgeous as a Tuono can be. At the very least, old butterface here will no longer have 2 black eyes. I'm sorry that's mean. Lol.

Wow, wow, wow...I've always had amazing time being on top of any type of a butterface. Hey it's why I have a Tuono!

I love your attention to detail and work that you put into what you love to do. I really need to swing by your shop when I'm up in Seattle sometime.

Stop you're making me blush lol.

The wicked cool 1903-era 'cap hill building I was in for 12 years was demoed.

Subsequently, I'm in a temp office/shop/warehouse spot until the next cool space opens up. I've got my eye on a couple. Seattle area retail spots are white hot at the moment. I'd wait for the "visit" until after I resettle.

And yah... I'm living proof that you never have to grow up and can play with toys all day. heh. I purposely stay small with minimal overhead so I can just have inventory that I like or at least find interesting in some way. The moment it turns into a numbers game its no fun and then burnout within a couple years. Not for me.

I feel it too. Just noticed the bike still had a few of the "pretty" but leak-prone oe squeeze-style coolant system clamps. Naturally I had to replace all of them with quality stainless units.
