Tire question

So, I'm trying to decide between pilot power 3s and 4s. Any suggestions ? I will be doing track days this year.

I've seen a few debates on both and just wondering your opinions.

P.S Sean, be expecting a txt for a tire swap fairly soon!

3's last a bit longer then 4's but have less grip from my understanding....im running power 1's for their longevity and wet grip

I've had my 2s since summer time and they've held up pretty good. I've only felt one or 2 slides.

If I remember correctly people were saying go for the 3s for track purposes.

I thought my Power 3 did great at the track, they were fine for the streets but not so much for long commute. So I went with the Road 4 for street use, and Pirelli for the track 2 sets of rims solved my tire selection problems

I think I might have to go with the q3s. I'm so used to my pilot 2s already that I kind of want to stick with that "style".

This season will be my first track time so no spirited riding as of now haha. Thanks for the info ladies and gents.

I have had Pilot Road 4 tires on my Kawasaki Concours 14 for about
8K miles now and my mechanic says they are about 50% used.
I like them. Good in wet, only 2 slips since new which may have been on oil.
I don't do track.
Note - Pilot Road, not Pilot Power

I can barely keep my throttle forward out on twisties so no promises

Just can't afford to crash the only bike I got! Obviously easier and more dangerous to crash on the street (for the ppl that would love to correct me) but the track is faster paced so I'll give it 1 or 2 goes before I get too crazy haha. Got to learn track etiquette first so I don't get in anyone's way.

That's a pretty good life span so far.

Dear Lord, this! We have this problem doing supermoto with noobies despite telling them to hold their line.

I run Power 3's and they are fantastic. I seem to be outnumbered on group rides though as almost everyone else seems to have the Road 4's. I have about 5,000 miles on them and they still have plenty of tread.
Note: I do not ride hard, I don't weigh a lot, and I don't do track days though.

My .02.

In no particular order, try the various Pilot Powers, then try the Q3's, then try what ever else you hear good things about for the track. Then ask yourself, how much track riding do I do vs. how much street. Then try a set of Sport Touring tires, such as any of the Pilot Roads, or offerings from other manufacturers. Once you've done that, then you will truly know what works best for you. Remember, skill levels, comfort zones, and riding styles differ between riders. What works best for one rider, doesn't necessarily work best for another. All other factors being equal, it could still just subjectively come down to what you like better in regards to feel and handling.

I will be doing as many track days as the bank account will let me haha. So I don't think I'd have a big need for "street" only tires, really. I'd say I'd definitely try them all if I had the tools to constantly change out tires myself. I see what you're saying though, about it being different for every rider. Thanks for the info/help!

Tire Question

I really like my PR4s (not the GT version), which I bought following some research.
I expect to get at least 15K miles on them, and they are good in wet weather. I ride a 2014 Kawi Concours 14, which is fairly heavy,
but I don't carry a passenger.
I don't ride track.
