Southworth ferry tips?

I have a class next week in south Seattle and plan on riding and taking the ferry. Anyone commute or have any tips?

I know that bikes can ride down to the front for loading, but do you pay at the booth or is there a ticket booth at the bottom?

Thanks

I haven’t gone east many times. Low traffic weekends, so stopped at the booth. Coming back, you ride onto the dock at Fauntleroy.

Get your ticket online in advance then you don't have to worry about getting off your bike going in and getting a ticket. Really makes a difference if you get there just before they unload. Also can get discounts off of multiple trips so worth checking it out online.

You can bypass all the traffic and ride down, last I was there you can buy your ticket at the end where the ferry docks.

  In the past.

At Southworth you pay at the booth and ride to the front if it is clear (ferry not unloading or loading). If you plan on riding back on Fauntleroy ferry then buy round trip ticket at booth in Southworth and drive to the front if clear where they will scan your ticket.

Well first round trip down. The only snafu was when I arrived the lady at the top told me the next ferry for southworth was at 335. So there I stood as all the other motorcycles loaded. Then the guys at the bottom yelled for me to get on the 300 pm ferry.

So neither the lady at the top or myself knew the 300 pm went to southworth lol oh well. Now I know.

2 more days of this.

  In the past.

They just started adding motorcycles to that route at the beginning of summer. It used to just be passengers.

It is always amusing to see different employees and how they do things differently to stage and load the boats. Different crews will have motorcycles on different areas. Bremerton boat treats the motorcycles as second class citizens compared to the other runs.

I've been really happy with how So- Fa ferry run deals with motorcycles. The Southworth side has a better set up for sure but super easy each way.
