Rider in need

Hey guys, I know I don't post often, but found this to be something I'd bring to the group. Some of you may know Milo Gillis, as I believe he is on this forum. I just read this from a friend of his on Facebook that he was involved in a significant motorcycle crash on his way to Oregon and is currently at Harborview with family.

Someone created a go fund me account to help with medical bills and I've pasted the link below. If you are not financially able to donate, he could certainly use our prayers. I've known Milo for years, though I haven't seen or talked to him in quite some time now. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Uhhhg so sorry to hear this. Didn't know Milo but no one deserves to be in that situation, especially not the family.

Heal up quick and with minimal lasting effects, Milo.

Sad to hear this. A good friend of mine got hit by a lady that blew through a red light coming up on two years ago in Florida.
Tough road ahead for him, and on the family for sure.
Thoughts and prayers are with him and his family!!

Please keep us updated on this.
Wish I could assist financially, but I'm not able to right now.
I didn't see this on facebook yet, when you get it on there, I will definitely share!

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers! Just saw this on here and wanted to give an update, I'm doing well and healing incredibly quick all things considered! I ended up breaking 20 bones and lacerating my liver, kidney and lung, going to be stuck in a wheelchair for awhile but frankly I'm just happy to have survived and still be here!

Heal up soon

I was in a wheelchair last year as well. Then the walker... It'll go quick! It seems like a long time when you're going through the rehab process but it sure makes you appreciate walking on two feet after being all healed up!
Don't avoid the PT exercises.
They suck bad but are crucial to healing up correctly..

Quite a crash. I am very sorry that happened to you.

You had a lot of facial damage. Was that even with a full face helmet? Did you hit something solid head on? And at what speed?

Just curious to help understand the limits of a helmet.

Your attitude is awesome Milo! I'm sure that's a big factor in how fast you are healing.

I was wearing a modular helmet, I don't remember anything past leaving Tacoma but averaging the timeline and speed it would take to be where I was at that time I think I was staying very close to the speed limit so somewhere between 65-75 I think when I left the road. I ended up hitting a barbed wire fence and it caught my helmet, broke a latch holding the visor down and took the helmet off my head, after that the bike high sided and I face planted into a old road bed. Some might say the way the helmet failed could have killed me but in truth if the helmet hadn't failed exactly the way it did my neck would have been broken, as it was I fractured my occipital condyle and was in a neck brace till yesterday. I can't even tell you all how lucky and blessed I am to still be here! The physical issues have been minimal really considering what my body went through, my kidneys, liver and lungs are all functioning normally thank god! Broken bones are healing and I'm looking forward to physical therapy! It's going to be miserable and I can't wait lol. The lord kept me here to be a father for my daughters and a helping hand to any who need it, how can I be upset after living through such a horrendous experience? Thanks all! Hope to be back on my bike by spring time!

Best wishes for a complete recovery Milo. You were blessed to have survived that crash and that blessing will be something to remember as you progress through your healing and therapies. Besides, I have it on good authority that scars make better stories than tattoos.

Wanted to stop in and give y'all an update. I'm walking again and doing great in physical therapy, back in my own house living by myself! Been a heck of a ride but I'm recovering better than expected and going to be pretty close to 100% recovery! Thank you all for the kind words and support!
