Thumbs up Port Orchard VFW 2669 - Hood Canal (Meet @ VFW 2669 Noon -12:30P).

Anyone care to join me on a ride from Port Orchard to Hood Canal Sunday, 9/30/18? I will be at the VFW on Mile Hill Dr. From Noon to 12:30 pm. I will be riding my black 2002 Honda Shadow Spirit 750cc. I will be wearing my VFW Rider's Group vest. My Rider name is "TENPIN"
(I'M a league/tournament bowler. I leave the 10 pin too often, especially when it's a nice shot in the pocket! )
If anyone is a veteran and not a VFW member, you definitely should consider joining. Come pick up an application Sunday. The VFW has a lot of fun events, fundraiser auctions, Vet rides, Rider's Group, weekly dinners and so much more. They really do a lot for our Veterans and the community.
Hope to see u there Sunday!

Here are some things that are working against you for this ride:

Day of the week. Sunday, especially in the afternoon, are particularly full of trucks pulling boats, campers etc. returning home for whatever leisure activities they've been doing since Friday evening. This makes the ride slow going and long.

Departure time. It's very late. Given the above road debris and factoring in fuel and food stops and any rest/scenic view stops, this ride will take greater than 4 hours. Probably closer to 6.

Typically on a ride like this, the usual suspects around here would be KSU NLT 0930. Earlier if on a weekend.

Good luck with the ride.

Sunday ride update...

Thanks for the tips. I wasn't planning on sound the entire Hood Canal Loop, just about half of it or across the HC bridge, go about 10 miles or so then turn around and come back. But really, I'm open to just about anything. I wouldn't mind riding somewhere new either. So, if someone knows of some awesome routes, I'm definitely down with that!!

No offense intended, but I would rather be flailed with devil's club than take this route, especially on a Sunday afternoon. SR 104 and SR 3 would be nothing but solid, slow, and stupid traffic, and most likely bumper to bumper crawling heading back towards the bridge.

If your main goal is a leisurely pursuit of your front tire you might think about something more like this.

Yeah - do this instead: start the ride at 6. Ride a bit and have a fabulous breakfast, which would be the point of the ride, and then be home by the time the Christians are out of church and on the way to iHOP.

Endolyne's is really good in West Seattle. Ferry ride over, eat breakfast, sneak-in a trip through Alki with an espresso stop, and then an easy cruise back south through Tacoma and Ruston and up the back way from Gig Harbor to Port Orchard.
