Had almost the same thing happen - lucky for me I was 3 miles from AFTER riding to Hurricane Ridge - I got a weird vibration and rear SHIMMY...

Today WAS a great day to ride BTW!!

Just a wild guess but I'm guessing next weeks ride is either cancelled or postponed.

If you want a little help when you get the new bearings let me know, I have a blind bearing puller and an assortment of bearing press tools, (some home made) brass drifts, etc.

I use to do this kind of stuff for coffee, but I'm finding a good nights sleep preferable to the caffeine buzz. The entertainment value of working with you for a couple of hours is worth its weight in, well not gold but maybe copper or perhaps silver.

I'd offer up mine for the day, but it looks like there's no need:

Chinook-Cayuse Passes | WSDOT

Updates:

WSDOT crews began clearing Chinook and Cayuse passes on Wednesday, March 1. Drivers can now sign up for email alerts for US 12/White Pass, SR 410/Chinook Pass and SR 123/Cayuse Pass. After entering their email address, subscribers should check the box for "Mount Rainier Area State Highway News" under the "News and Information" section of the page.

Friday, May 26:

Cayuse Pass: SR 123 Cayuse Pass reopened for the season at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 19. Travelers headed eastbound can access Cayuse Pass by way of US 12 and SR 123, and those headed westbound can access the pass at the Crystal Mountain Boulevard gate on SR 410.

Chinook Pass: SR 410 over Chinook Pass will not reopen in time for Memorial Day weekend. A reopening date has not been determined, but will likely be early June. Crews made good progress this week and are all the way up to the arch.

Fuck man, leave for six months and it's like you've missed half a year of activities!

BTW, I bet that bearing is gonna be a bitch to get out and will succumb in multiple pieces. Let me know if you need or want help. I gots some tools for that.

Was originally planning it for next week, but the pass would not play nicely.

If I can get the inner race to succumb to brute force and a taper punch from the back side I can pull the spacer and attack the outer one.

Thanks for the offer. If my assaults come to no avail I will take you up on your offer.

It looks like you're off the hook, Sean. A 5/8" bull punch and a 2 pound drilling hammer are fairly irresistible when applied with the proper mindset.

Good job. I was going to suggest a little heat to help, but it seems you managed without it.

Yeah sure, youbetcha. A front end vibration coupled with a chirp will most assuredly turn the boxers into a thong.

From the pictures it looks like you kids had a lot of fun at Baker.
