How to get on Ferry? Southworth/Fauntleroy

What is the process for cutting the line? Or do I just go in through the exit and pay where the walk-ons pay?

And where do I go for the pass?

Rode for the first time this morning. Really wishing I had bought those rain pants last night.

I've always wondered the same thing. It's not very clear, and I don't want to be "that guy" that everyone hates.

Go through the exit (if it's clear), and pay where the walk on people pay.

from southworth:

ride to the toll booth you will see from the road and pay. tell the lady whether you are going to vashon or all the way across to fauntleroy. then ride to the front of the line (you m ay have to ride on t he left hand side to get past waiting cars, which is cool, and park by the terminal building off to the side a bit (not in the lane) near the pedestrians.

when the boat arrives they will offload pedestrians and then motorcycles and then cars.

when it is time to board, pedestrians go first, and then motorcycles. the worker bee will tell you when to go. ride to the "front" off the boat and park off to the side. they will point at where they want you.

from fauntleroy:

do not get into the car line at the side of the road. go into the waiting area at the terminal, past the toll booth, ride up to the front of the waiting lines, you may have to ride in the left lane, and park off to the right hand side, near the trash bins, again, not in the lane. there will probably be other bikes there.

walk inside the terminal and buy your ticket. go back to your bike and wait to show your ticket to the worker bee when he asks. you will be directed when to ride onboard. ride to the "front" of the boat, as directed.

make sure to watch the flashing yellow lights to see if the boat is going to vashon, if you want to do that. if you are going all the way across to southworth, either boat will work.

Thanks, guys.

They really should explain that on the WA Ferries' website. Only have to learn it once, though.

Today was good. Got my first Seattle Baptism while riding to work and got to ride on the ferry without having to worry about if it was going to be full when I got there.

You can buy single, round trip or commuter (20 rides and most cost effective)
online from the web site.

Wave 2 Go

Print them out and the attendant only needs to scan it.

The commuter tickets are good for 90 days from purchase.
