Dewatto (IODTT) Pavement

Does anyone besides me feel hesitant about that chip-seal job? I mean, I stopped and looked at it. It looks sketchy as hell. That gravel is super...rough (coarse? large? is there a standard for chip-seal gravel size?), and it doesn't seem so be really SET in the tar. It feels to me as if sideways loads will sort of "roll" the individual gravel bits free of their tar bonding. Also, the center of the lane is actually missing gravel in many areas. If they wanted to slow people (me) down out there, they did a good job. I dunno, maybe I'm getting old, but I don't trust that asphalt.

Is it just me?

They do that every couple years... if they would just do it correctly, the road would be in much better shape for much much longer.

The last chipseal job was horrible as well. I was out there in April and sections of it had peeled up.

Usually takes a week or two of car traffic to pack chip-seal down, but I hate the damn stuff regardless of what condition it's in....

Racetrack is at the Ridge. You should try that one.
Going fast on the street is awfully dangerous.

Especially on that road. Chipseal, gravel, log trucks, deer, etc.

Funny thing, I learned to drive out there when it was all a dirt road.
