Jan 2016 Gig Harbor BMW F650GS / BMW R12R | All quiet on the Kitsap front lately
Howdy all, PNWMOTO has been pretty quiet in general lately, but it seems like Kitsap riders have gone nearly silent. Anybody doing any riding? I saw a few riders in the Tahuya area on a sunny, cool ride last Saturday, but not as many as I expected for such a fine afternoon in December. Just checking to see if folks are still out there, I guess. Cheers. |

Took the DR650 into Olympic National Forest a week ago Monday. Day was nice but really cold, heated gear got a workout. Ran into numerous icy patches and stretches on the dirt roads. No problems dealing with it, just not a lot of fun. Even though retired, damp gloomy days are just not conducive to hoping on one of the bikes and going for a ride. |

i saw a bunch of doods out last saturday between PO and GH. not a lot of chatty-chatty online tho. you know, its gotten a little hostile out there, lots of opinion generation and defense. makes it unfun, IMO. dunno - maybe its just cold and wet and theres no place to get a fucking hamburger for lunch any way... |

I looped over to Renton (don't ask why) on Saturday to check out how the bar mitts do on Inspector Morse and came back home. The mission to test the mitts was a rousing success, but I did feel a bit like the little brother in A Christmas Story by the time I got the extra layer of insulation on. BTW: If you can't find a burger then you ain't looking hard enough. I'm going to the mountains on Saturday, or I'd offer to go on a burger run with you. |

Been riding every day...except the weekends. Too much shit to do on the farm lately to go on a pleasure cruise. All the while trying to nurse my new (to me) winter bike back to health. Carbs are still a mystery to me... Been meaning to go get the tag too but I just don't have it in me anymore. |

Still here. SWMBO has us remodeling the master bedroom. Bought a Ninja 250 and going to run it as a Novice with WMRRA next year. Can't wait. |

What's pnwmoto anyway? Oh, ya, it's a motorcycle forum that has pretty much died over the last few years. I look every now and then to see what's new on the timeline, but...... I haven't even started my bikes in a long time....... Maybe one of these days I'll go for a ride..... |

I went out yesterday for a little while after lunch. Fek it was cold. Heated grips are uber nice. But the thing with heated grips and insulated gloves is that the glove insulation keeps the heat out. Are there "winter" gloves with thin palms and insulated backs? I also dislike having the bulk of insulation between my palms and fingers and the grips and controls. Can't feel what I'm doing very well. Ya know? NO HIPPO HANDS. STFU about hippo hands. |

Of course, sport bike riders probably won't want the handguards. The other good way to help keep hands warm is to keep your torso warm. Yesterday I was loving my electric jacket liner under the riding suit. |

I've chastised those with heated gear, grips etc for a long time. After having OE heated grips on a previous bike and coming to appreciate them, I've developed a yearning for heated equipment on my current rides. I'm hoping Santa brings me the jacket liner I've been dreaming about.

I went out today for a ride and an espresso from PO to the ceramics place in GH. It was warm enough that I was comfortable in my Level 1 (as cold as I'll want to ride) gear. Heated grips. Check. I only saw one other rider. He looked like a determined commuter. What is amazing but you never think about it: how great the insulation factor is in your helmet. |
