Is it second summer in here??

You guys are being awfully quiet for it being winter...

What's everyone been up to? What projects ya got going on? What's some big plans for the summer?

Just been working a bunch of OT down here, and staying out of trouble... kinda. Got possibly my first old lady pass a couple weeks ago. Didn't rank high enough to replace Jackal's favorite story, but I did save more on the warning than if I'd have switched to Geicko.

No projects at the moment, unless you count how much dust can build up over the winter. Need to do an oil change on both bikes and some minor winter maintenance - both are pretty much good to go once it warms up though.

Plans for the upcoming summer... hoping to finally get back to the track, and have been tinkering around with plans for a cross-country trip... potentially on the Daytona! (my ass is going to really fucking hurt).

I'd post a pic for attention... but it's too much of a pain in the ass now.

Anyway - who kicked Mike's bike???

I bought a Yamaha Radian about a year ago and while it was hard to start and idle appropriately, it ran ok, but used oil like it was the 80's and jerry curls were back in style. I pulled the carbs, cleaned them, and drilled the pilot jets, replaced an air mix screw, and just need to put it all back together. I may replace valve stem seals down the road. Also, bought a VStom 650 early this year and I added heated grips, and some other nicnacks to, and have been commuting on that finally. I went to MN late August on my VFR and broke a caliper so I'll put that up on the lift next month and completely go through the brakes and cleaning and putting in new seals and fluid through the system. Although non mc related, I'm currently fixing the head gaskets on an older Grand Caravan to eventually use for some moto-camping. Oh, and I adjusted the carb on my little MZ 125SM.

The doldrums...gray, foggy months. Cold garage....but, I have my radiant heater on one of the big RV tanks!
Have a 1974 RD-200 A trying to get running after being ridden 50 miles in the last 38 years.

1999 TW-200 won't idle and run after putting it back to stock intake and pipe. need a day warm enough to run it outside and fiddle with mixture screw.

2005 ZX-10, rode it hard and put it away wet after September ORC at Spokane. Tried to start it 2 weeks ago and t would not fire, pretty sure I ran it out of gas. It needs lights back on anyway so will get that sorted.

2013 ZG-1400, battery out so it won't drain in just a couple of weeks not running.

Any day expecting a 2007 Bandit 1250S back in the barn that was looped by my friends son last summer. The longer it sits in his garage the more it will cost to get back on the road.

Running out of winter soon...just want to do a lt of shorter solo rides next season and a couple of track events if Spokane gets operating again and Motofit at ORC.

changing out the fuel tank on my new sumo. got the old one un-bolted last night. tonight i have to drain it and then swap all the hardware onto the new tank. the oem tank is...petite at 1.9 gallons. the new one is humongous at 2.9 gallons.
also going to change the rear sprocket and the chain for a taller gear situation. changed the front a week ago or so from 13 to 14. the crf450x comes geared for goat trails.
already replaced the battery with a new shorai and got some new mirrors (cheapass chinese kawasaki knockoffs that work great. $13.00 for two. how do they DO it?).
not sure if there's anything else.

my garage isn't icy cold. i have a heater under the workbench. even in january the garage stays at like mid to low 40's, so i can work out there all year in spring/fall clothes and don't have to wear an exposure suit or anything.

hands get cold though.

Let's see,
Overheated my TW200 at the beach and popped the gasket out from under the front of the cylinder so the top end needs to come off. Also swapped a pieced together BW350 front end on to it to see if it will keep the front end from digging in at the beach. Tempted to go try it with it still leaking oil but probably will not.

Bought a Honda Fat Cat 200, got it started, and it smoked so bad the wife came out because she thought the garage might be on fire. Need to pull the top end on that, among many other repairs on it.

Bought a totalled Honda CTX700 DCT from Copart, finished getting it road ready, and have the inspection next Thursday. Looks to be a very fun bike.

Still riding most every day, rain or shine. That means I can state I shed tears nearly every day this time of year and it makes me sound 'sensitive'.

Hey Mel.
The ZX6R race bike is on stands and drained for the winter. Since I'm lazy as heck I won't get around to rebuilding the brakes and other pre-ride stuff until I take my wheels off for fresh rubber in the spring. I'm hopping to have enough squirreled away to hit California Superbike School in the spring before the OMRRA season kicks off.

The VFR is ready to ride at a moments notice, but I've been traveling and doing "non motorcycle" stuff lately.

Next summer is all about OMRRA and a few trips. Planning on hitting NorCal and an Eastern Oregon trip. Maybe if I have enough time also do a Wa-20 run with my Dad. In June I'm going to the Ridge for MotoAmerica as well. Busy year planned. My wallet already hurts.

just finished the tank job.
oem tank pic (black) for compar-o-matic.
it was tiny.
easy-peasy job on this bike.
most of the bolts were for plastic.
only one bolt and one rubber strap holding the tank on.
one bolt for the petcock.
one circlip for the fuel line.
half an hour.
bike's def heavier on top.
i really feel the more/higher weight.
this should give me 100 miles of range (cautiously) or maybe 80 hooning around, which rocks.

btw: that alcohol hand sanitizer everyone seems to have around cleans gasoline off hands nicely. pro tip.

Yo Mel

Been hiding out and staying warm. Once the cities start laying down sand and gravel that's pretty much it for me.

Bikes are clean, covered and hooked-up on life support. Have a few go-fast parts in the pipeline for the usual over-the-winter upgrades and maintenance. Always keeping an eye out for the next two wheel project but can't decide on which style to run with. Been all over the map on this one, so many good bikes so little time. Will have to do some soul searching to figure that out.

Goals for the next riding season? As always, just be slightly faster than Beans & the Senator. Everything else is gravy A few track days is always a must. Looking to join in on a CA Run, Eastern OR & Idaho Run, and the usual weekend day jaunts. Been wanting to run a few chowder runs, I'll have to plan those out.

new bike stand today. dang i am having a lot of fun with this single cylinder business. ommfg the vibrations though. makes everything tingle at first, then go numb. weird sensation. rode about 50 miles today. do not like water. still - rode twice in december! instead of wheelies it was ... well, not burnouts since i was basically riding ON water, ...slipouts?
